I don’t think it’s quite the same. What Lawrence and Fields tweeted out are requests around safety. I don’t see anything about money or any of that other BS. It seems they have paired that down and this is completely around ensuring schools provide a common set of protocols to keep players safe.

Seems like they came up with a better group that includes actual good players and that the we are United dudes then tried to co opt out for their own gain by claiming it was a collaboration

Donations no longer drives the Bus WRT CFB & MBB it's nice to have that money and the Athl Dept won't say no, but everything being done now is to protect the Golden Goose, the TV Contracts
Yearly donations are what, 10% of the athl dept budget, unless targeted toward FB & MBB those donations help the welfare non Revenue Sports most of the time
