You can plead your case until he tells you to stop. You can even tell him flat out if you think it is bad call. You can look away and yell "that's bullshite" to your teammate or sideline. But you may not cuss them to their face. They will flag you for that every time and Greedy knew it.

Actually he said it to his back. The ref had to turn completely around and stare him down while throwing his hat. If it’s a first Offense it’s a warning. A good official walks away. An official that turns and stares at a player like that. Time to retire

Greedy should have turned his back and said it if he had to say it. Instead he looked at the ref and said "that's bullshite" and when the ref looked, he saw Greedy was talking to him, and there is not a ref in any conference that wouldn't have thrown that flag(or hat it this case). You don't cuss the refs, it is one of the first things you learn as a player.

And having listened to several existing officials over the last few days
You call that when they are making an arse of you. No one could tell what he said. They could guess but no one knows or cares.
Setting that aside .... if you want to go ahead and make it a big deal and throw your flag. Throw the flag on him while you are on your way away from the scene and to the white hat. Turning , Bowing up and staring down an athlete. ( I would add an athlete that has been chasing people around for 106 plays. ) that’s bush league officiating. It the first sign that you have had enough retire.
I never officiated at this high of a level of sport . But officials are taught better . This guy is kicking himself for staring the athlete down and demeaning him.

The team had been getting screwed all night, it was the seventh overtime, and the receiver was pushing off harder than he was. He maintained his cool better than I did, and I was sitting at home.

He had just stopped a 2pt try that would have ended the game and were about to go into our 8th overtime.
Then the ref decided to give A&M another try on a pretty awful call.
