I think you should take one for the team and watch the Southern Miss game.

I mean I'll watch parts of it. Lets be real here though...

Alabama is 3-0 at this point. The only reason to watch is to see if we win 76-3 or 24-3.

I watch them to see the younger players get some game time.

There is no preseason, no exhibition games, for college football. So the first few weeks are littered with schools putting the boots to gloriously over matched smaller schools looking to cash a check. It can be pretty damn dull, but its very valuable time spent getting a team ready for the meat of the schedule.

It also leads to some astounding upsets where a big team that isn't really up to form stumbles across the rare small team that tears them up. Eastern Washington, for example, is not a team I'd care to welcome into my stadium for the first game of the season because while your players won't be up for it their players will be and EWU is pretty darn talented team. Ask the Big 12 what opening the season with North Dakota State is like.

Basketball has exhibition games to warm the players up for the coming season and smooth out the wrinkles. I think a strong argument can be made for one or two college football exhibition games.

Good points. It's still kinda sucks for the fans though. I get a lot more excited once the meat of the schedule starts.

Every year is the same for me. I'm excited for week 1 then kinda lose interest a bit until week 4.

I enjoyed watching LSU beat a B1G team. Also enjoyed seeing UGA beat the pants off Clemson. Everyone didn't play UAB and Nicholls.
