Texas AM would have won the Big 12 this year. Might have been ranked higher in the BCS right now - maybe in contention for BCS title game.

NO.

They couldn't win every shootout in the BIG 12. La Tech would finish 9th in the BIG 12. 59-57 over LA Tech. They'd probably be a 2-3 loss team. Where was that "improved" defense in that game?

You really think Swope is an NFL receiver?

Swope is a 3rd or 4th rounder at best.

3rd or 4th round of what if he's not an NFL receiver?
Edit: And I've seen projections of Swope being the 4th best receiver in this draft class and probably being a mid round pick which is probably pretty fair for a short white guy that can make plays.

Or that Evans or him have half that production without Manziel's running threat?

Swope has 758 yards this year. Last year he had 1207. I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say... yes, Swope would still have those yards without Manziel, he's a pretty decent receiver.

Evans has 923 yards. He's 6'5", 218lb and pretty physical. I think he'd have the same yardage with any decent QB throwing to him. In fact, if Showers was starting for us they might both have more as it would change our offense some and we couldn't rely on the quarterback being mobile.

In 2007 UF had only TWO starters return on defense from 2006 BCS title team. We had to outscore other teams a lot. The players you list as from 2007 and drafted by NFL is misleading, except maybe Caldwell in 2007...the rest were mostly drafted in 2009..and some in 2008. They were mostly backups in 2006 and some just getting first snaps in 2007.

We have 3 first rounders(all JRs) in Joeckel, Matthews, & Moore. Swope is 6th in rec yards. Evans is 4th in rec yards. C-Mike is 5th in rush TDs. GTFO of here with that.

These juniors are a big reason your team is third in the SECW this year. What they decide with respect to the NFL draft will determine how far your team goes next year.

If they all come back, you will be front runners for the SECW title. If they don't, you will probably be no better than you are right now next year.

I don't expect you to know facts, but we had two starters on D suspended, and two major contributors injured.

Sweet attempt though

A&M's D is really under=rated. UF got 20, OM got 27 (LSU allowed 35), MSU 13, UA 24, LSU 24...A&M maybe not upper echelon but pretty good, but with that O certainly good enough to beat anyone. The LaTech game, I don't know...just one of those things that can happen I guess.

On the subject of Swope, something overlooked is that he is an absolutely fantastic blocker.
Plays all aspects of the game well
Oh and it was still nice to see texas lose on thanksgiving even though we have both "moved on"

Yes...absolutely. All the above were either first year starters or not starting yet. Read my other posts in this thread. I said the 2007 UF team had tons of talent...I was comparing the situations of 2012 aTm and 2007 UF.

Essentially all they each are proven at is QB. aTm is average at best this year on defense and they will only be worse when they lose Damontre Moore. He is the main reason their defense does anything in pass defense.

Completely agree, but his lack of top end speed and ability to create separation is going to drop him big time.

I am not saying that he won't be a great NFL receiver...that depends entirely on the system and situation of the team that drafts him. I.e. he gets drafted by the Dolphins...he's done. He gets drafted by the Colts...he's got a lot better chance. (those are just the first teams that popped into my head...I'd love to take him as a 3rd rounder for NOLA)

Swope is pretty fast man. He has been creating separation since day 1 of his career. This isn't the pity the white dude that plays receiver that lacks in speed and physicality, but makes up for it by being a coach on the field. In addition to playing physical, not giving a frick and having good speed, Swope runs good routes, plays with emotion, and does the little things right.

He's a 4.5-4.6 range 40 yd dash guy...that is lacking top end speed as an NFL wideout.

His quickness makes that number mean less though as you are alluding to.

I'm pretty sure he's the 2nd fastest player on the team at just under 4.4.

It's Sumlin as much as Johnny Football. Johnny is his third Heisman to coach and that's not counting the NCAA career statistical leader in Case Keenum or a guy named Drew Brees.

Sumlin is good or the luckiest sonbitch ever with QBs

Speaking of TA&M WRs Jeff Fuller sure did drop in to obscurity.

After his Junior season experts were saying he was the next Julio Jones. I guess his size and the number 8 was the reasoning behind this heh.

He went undrafted and is now a practice squad member for the Dolphins.
