Yes and it's pretty bad when you are bested by a guy who eats grass and one that you need a translator to understand.

that changes things significantly
You have Miles, Orgeron, and Kelly.

I still lean towards "no". Miles was clearly the best HC, kept the machine humming for a decade and when he left, it still wasn't "bad", it was just stale and not "great" anymore.
That leaves Orgeron and Kelly.

Orgeron had 2019. He also had 2020 and 2021.

Kelly didn't have the natty, but he did get LSU back to 9-10 wins after those 2 years; I don't think Orgeron could have. And Orgeron had Aranda, probably the best defensive coordinator in CFB, already in place and established. If Kelly had a defense as good, I think he does win a natty with Daniels in 2023.

Outside of LSU, it's really no contest: Kelly had Cincinnati playing good, then had Notre Dame back in the national spotlight. Orgeron's best tenure was 6-2 at USC as interim, his time at Ole Miss was a disaster.

And while there's indications of Kelly maybe fooling around and not focusing on the job, it wasn't front and center during press conferences and practices like it was with Orgeron. Kelly didn't take the buyout and giggle like a drunk idiot who just won the lottery when he was fired, like Orgeron did.

Since Saban? He'll yes.

Ever? Curley takes the cake and Archer was handed a goldmine and ushered in the Curley era...Its one of them; but Curley Hallman was worse for longer.

Over the past 45 years, LSU has lost 3 or more games 80% of the time.

The winningest coach in Notre Dame history…

I’m not the best historian of Notre Dame football, was this stat solely due to the fact he coached longer than the past legendary ND coaches?

While it did not work out..the hire was not the issue. He just relaxed and did not care anymore..but he was a very proven coach before he came.

Not sure about it but I can see he was kind of a miserable person. It seems customary that when a coach is fired someone has something good to say about the man.

I’ve not looked, but it seems near universal that no one has a good thing to say about the guy.
Not true.

Both, his banker and real estate agents, have given full endorsement to Kelly.

/sarcasm -- In reality, several have really gone on record, with at least a couple of high profile players. Kelly definitely was a CEO coach, which was what they wanted - someone like Saban. If successful, he would be labeled a genius who brought order and structure to the Baton Rouge football program.
