Perhaps you didn't see where Tennessee finished 10th....TENTH in recruiting in the SEC. Not 10th in the nation. In the conference.
Heupel is another Dollar Store coach hired on the cheap.
I was very glad he was gone because he said he hated recruiting. This was when he was the OC when Odom was the HC. Both Odom and Heupel couldn't cut it as a recruiter.

Tennessee will recruit very well. We always do. We actually had a good class this year considering the Pruitt situation. Recruiting has never been the problem for us, especially when we are winning. Just bad coaching in recent years.

Recent as in 20 years long?

Butch and Dobbs gave some two good seasons. Kiffin did okay as well. It was a big slump but that's what happens when you let too many greedy ego boosters control /affect the AD.
What's more important is we have that fixed now and will be elite once again starting next year.

How different is this team gonna be from the one that Purdue beat?

Did Purdue really beat Tennessee? Wow! How bad did Tennessee fall from being a good football team when losing to Purdue? Must have shown that Tennessee has a long way to go!

Hard r or no hard r, casually dropping that word is trash. That segment isn't interesting enough to sit through that mess.

I mean we are getting pretty much all of our key leaders back including Hooker, our leading WR and clutch playmaker Tilman arse well as Jabari Small at RB. And on defense Flowers in the secondary and the monster defensive end Byron Young. We lost a few pieces but whatever.
To answer your question though. We are bringing a veteran team with one more year in Josh's system.
And everyone knows we really beat Purdue, despite missing a few key players including our best DB. They all said that they choice to come back because they are helping to install a new culture at Tennessee.
Our biggest losses will be at CB with Taylor, WR and return man Velus Jones RB Tiyon Evans and OL Mays. Mays and Evans are kind of soft though imo. And Taylor chose to sit out the bowl he. We lose Butler as well at DT.
Taylor and Jones are our biggest losses imo.
Stop using that Purdue game as ammunition. Should have been a Vol blowout and the refs absolutely cheated us at the end.

We didn't have the right AD in place until now DJS.

Did you even watch football last year?
Purdue was a very well balanced team good on defense and top tier on offense. IMO they were at least as good as Ole Miss overall probably better. A hell of a lot better than Mizzou. We had them blown out then on a few bad calls they climbed back into the game with our best DB out.
Then the refs literally gave them the football game. Worst call in bowl game history by the refs on 4th down in OT the refs denied our TD.
Here is when they robbed us:

LMAO. Now you are just outright trolling. We didn't have our all world CB Taylor nor our starting RB and best OL player against a very good Purdue team in our first year under Heupel. The only SEC team that would have challenged Purdue last year besides Bama and UGA was Ole Miss. Any other SEC team would have been taken to the woodshed without the help of the refs unlike us. Again that was in Heupel's FIRST season missing almost all of our starters from the year before.
UGA fans getting high and mighty after their first NC in forever.

I gave them a bunch of shite and made fun of the fat bat coach but he was better than I expected. They're nowhere near a championship program but I wouldn't be surprised if wins 10 games once or twice in the next 5 years.

We are much closer than you think and it starts this season. 2023 could be the hangover year actually depending on the NIL ofcourse and progression of our young QB Tayven Jackson. I am very high on Jackson though. He seems to have the proper intangibles and "it" factor like Hooker does.

You obviously no zero about football. I bet you were a long time Jarret Gurantano fan right?
What Heupel did last year was amazing. Please go follow another team. What you just said is the stupidest and most ungrateful effin thing I've ever heard in my life.
When your know-nothing sorry arse has donated as much as I have to the University of Tennessee. You can talk shite. Until then sit your broke, student ticket holding self down and STFU.
By the way, Guarantano was not a very skilled player. However, look at the jokes he had for coaches. He was always a loyal team player. When he got benched he was the first one to cheer and congratulate the guy who replaced him. He also carried himself with class and dignity the entire time he was at UT. Class and dignity, something your snotnose punk arse knows nothing about.

I have been watching Tennessee since i was 3 years old so sit down and stfu. I am a season ticket holder for over two decades now.
Edit: Just your JG apologist paragraph. You were one if his defenders i am guessing.
Now you REALLY need to sit down and stfu.
He has zero business starting at QB for any P5 school. He represented us well? This is a hyper competitive sport ffs not a brownie cooking contest. He represented us TERRIBLY by his shitty performance game in and game out for a LONG time. I knew he was trash immediately..He never had any pocket presence...had a terrible slow release...played timid....and just never ever had anything resembling an "it" factor.
Good college QBs make bad coaches look decent. JG was nothing close to even mediocre.
Frick him. Hope he never QBs anywhere again. He was a spolled little primadonna as well.
