Not justifying them, I just have always preferred liquor to beer so regardless, I am poring into a cup, so the "put it in a cup rule" doesnt bother me. I also do not give two shits that I am not eating something that has to be cooked right then and there. I like brisket sandwiches or sausage and cheese plates. To me gameday is not an eating day, its a drinking day, so the no open flames does not bother me. For me the Grove is perfect, I am simply pointing out that it isnt for everyone, especially if beer and food is more of a priority to you than liquor and pussy. The Grove is the most unique tailgating experience. Being so unique means it is not going to be the best to a lot of people because it is not for them. If you feel more comfortable being spread out, having a keg, and sitting around with girls wearing tshirts then you will hate the Grove, and theres nothing wrong with that. To each it's own.

You're really describing LSU's tailgating in extremes. I drink liquor all day and see plenty of good looking, well dressed women. But ok.

I would like to pour my keg beer in to a cup.

To each his own, but having the option of getting something hot off the grill is always better. You might not even want to eat it, but eliminating fresh food is dumb.

Food helps me drink more beer.

If the Grove had established different rules, and it was all you were used to, I'm sure you'd prefer it. This is American. More options is always better. It's the definition of freedom.

The only thing unique about it is all the hot girls from Texas that I thought were too dumb to go to college at all found a way to spend more of daddy's money. Otherwise, drinking and eating before a football game is pretty standard. Lots of places do it.

You do know that the gameday dress and cowboy boots thing was something we started, right? Y'all totally stole that from us.

You disagree that freshly cooked meat is superior to finger sandwiches and cheese plates? You do know if y'all allowed open flame, y'all would all use it, right? Since like... it's gives you more and often times better food options?

I'm just saying the food isn't meh. I always eat well there. I also don't think I trust open flames in the Grove. Some drunkass (probably me) would burn it down by accident.

You eat well, as most people aren't incompetent... but let's face reality here. If it wasn't a rule, the Black Bears would be grilling up some fresh food. It's as simple as that.

I am defending the Grove from sucking, not that it is better tailgating than LSU or Bama. Those two have an argument if what makes the Grove unique, isnt what you are about.

It's not the trees you'd have to worry about. It's so packed in there it would be an alcohol infused fireball away from killing somebody.

You can tailgate anywhere else on campus, and I would say about 5K fans do, and grill. If it is that important to you, you can do exactly what LSU fans do and tailgate all over campus, spread out from everyone and set up kegs, beer pong, and DJ's. The rules simply apply to the Grove.

100K people on 5 acres is unique. That doesnt happen anywhere else in the world. The student body having wearing dresses and having their shirts tucked in is unique and only happens on a handful of campus in the country. Being able to visit 10 different tents in one hour is unique.

And for those who want fresh food more than being in the atmosphere that makes the Grove unique, guess what, they can grill. Its a choice.

I agree. It would make for some more food options, but I don't trust my drunk Bear brethren not to burn down the forest.

You realize open flames are allowed outside of the grove right? It's like a 50 yard bridge and all the tailgates around the baseball field lots have grills. It really isn't that big of a deal
