On that kick catching interference call against OM. The worst call I've seen all year. Can't find a video of it.

Wrong. There has already been a thread on this that quoted the exact rule.
It states something to the effect that if a receiver calls for a fair catch and bobbles the catch, then they have to afforded a chance to pull it in BEFORE it hits the ground. The Vandy receiver grabbed it out of the air. It's a weird rule, but the refs got it right.

It happened in the Florida/Arkansas game years ago. In sure you didn't think it was stupid then
It's been that way for awhile now. If the ball doesn't hit the ground you can't hit the player catching it

Yeah that's exactly what happened. It got ruled kick-catch interference and we kept the ball.

Sounds like the right call then. If fair catch is called the returner has the right to attempt to catch it unhindered all the way til it hits the ground even if it is impossible such as a tip.
Having not seen the play would the Vandy player have been able to snatch it up or make a play AFTER it hit the ground? If so his coach should chew his butt

He did make a huge mistake because we got lucky and bailed out. The ball had pretty much fallen out of our returners reach and was on its way to the ground and frankly it bounced RIGHT to the Vandy player from our guys arms.
We got bailed out but the call was the correct call.
