This was actually a really big part of our downfall. Mack got lazier and lazier, if you wouldn't commit right away, he pretty much gave up on it. He settled for Conference USA caliber linemen from Lake Travis & other Austin area schools. They just quit evaluating late bloomers because we didn't have any spots. He just buddied up to the administration and went on cruise control. Colt McCoy absolutely carried some very mediocre football teams and masked a lot of the flaws. It was so painful to watch it happen in slow motion

Mack was done recruiting by February right after signing day every year...He couldn't be bothered to evaluate the rest of the year or drop a player off the list and take a different player, and he rarely even left the state of Texas to recruit. The out of state recruits were usually Legacy type players..
He ended up with a lot of recruits that were highly rated and never panned out..

Well Nick Saban is old and may not be around in 2025. Just sayin. Not that it changes anything in regards to TU
