Do we know that was what was said, or is this hearsay? From what I've heard, the slurs were claimed by someone who was not at the event.

What's that got to do with you condoning the act if it happened?

You will need to be taken to a re-education camp and learn to think properly!

These football players have every right to speak out against this play if they do not agree with it's gay agenda. Now, if this never even happened and all this outrage has been directed at them over a trumped up charge, then this is even more sinister that I thought. Why do these "special" groups get to claim sacred status and they cannot take any criticism? I'm laughing that they thought bringing a bunch of football players into a gay play would be a good idea. Orwell would roll over in his grave at these thought police.

They have a right to disagree, but not a right to yell "f*g" or "queer" and demean people.

I have yet to read one person say that the players didn't have the "right" to disagree.

Exactly.....

I think Rachel captured the sentiment quite well.

quote:

Added Rachel Staton, another theater major: “That was by far the worst audience I’ve ever performed in front of ... If I can go support and respect the football team in their stadium, I feel like they should be able to support and respect me and my fellow cast members when we are doing a show.”

I'm not saying they did.

This numb nut Dawg fan said they have the right to yell those slurs. He's fricking wrong.

Nice.

I thought This was pretty spot on as well:
quote:

You have the right to say or write anything in this country thanks to the first amendment. It's the single most important freedom we have. So you can type "your gay," to people you disagree with to your heart's content on Twitter and the government can't do anything to you. But what you don't have is freedom from consequences. Right now the government isn't arresting or investigating Ole Miss players for behaving like boorish idiots, the public is reacting with complete and total disgust to a story that shocks them.

He misspelled it intentionally. He was describing the tweets he's received.

People like you are hilarious. Here, I'll blow your mind. I agree, we should be tolerant of their beliefs and their expression of said beliefs. In return, they are obligated to shut up and listen to people express the belief that they're bigots, dumbasses, and trash.

Exact same logic. Why are you trying to silence these people?

JEBUS is this thread still going???

Some players were acting like crazy assholes and disrupted a play. Possible gay terms used, and maybe a few people cried.

Teacher lowers their grades, people realize these players have never been taught how to act in public, everyone gets over it.

THE ONLY REASON this has made news is because it's Mississippi. Move along

Also it's funny to see everyone have such rustled jimmies on a topic about the word gay

Meanwhile Vandy players raping co-eds is less of a news story.
