You should bet on that.

Well you should be.

Our top 7 rushing offense and top 25 defense in the nation should concern any team that has to play us inside Neyland.

Milton is our only weak spot. If we can figure put ways for him not to lose it for us we are good.

I'm not worried about UF losing enough games to get us in... look at their schedule.

They definitely have a few more losses.

It's UGA that's the question mark.

Vols can win out but it won't matter as far as Atlanta goes if no one besides us beats UGA.

Doesn't matter. Controlling your own destiny means that as long as your team wins the rest of their games, they're in.

UT does not have that.

UGA, Florida and Mizzou all do in terms of winning the SEC (along with just Bama from the west).

UF comes off that list for a national title because a 2-loss conference champion would need help with losses from a lot of other teams.

Buddy I'm looking at the schedules right now. Florida will not win enough games to edge us out if we win out unless they beat UGA this weekend maybe.

This requires Tennessee to win every game left though.

I honestly think UT will be out of contention for the conference championship before the day starts when UGA goes to Knoxville.

The only thing UGA might lose in that game is an undefeated season if they still haven't lost. UT won't win anything even if they pull the upset.

The key point is "will not".

You need UF and UGA to lose games to teams other than you. That means UT doesn't control their own destiny.

It feels like you don't know what that term actually means.

It depends on a lot of things.

Beating Kentucky and Missouri on the road without our leader at WR and our lockdown corner isn't going to be easy though.

I want to say with confidence that we win both those games, but Milton has proven to be an absolute choke artist on the road so I'm very cautiously optimistic.

No i understand it. I'm just saying there is a decent chance that we will be able to control it by the time the UGA game comes.

And that's fine.

UT has a chance to win the east if a lot of things turn out their way. But they simply don't control their own destiny for winning the SEC.

The teams that have that are UGA, UF, Mizzou and Bama (though either UGA or UF will fall of that list after this weekend).

It depends on only one thing, which he's explaining to you.

"Controlling your destiny" means if you win every game, you're in. There's no other ifs or contingencies.

Tennessee is not in that position. That's the point.

Not at this moment we aren't. But a lot of things can change in this upcoming month.

This year may very well end up like 2007. That was a fun and unpredictable year in the SEC east especially.

Yeah but I'm looking at each team's schedule and liking our odds IF we handle business on the road against UK and Mizzou.

It's not that far fetched at all that we could still get in.

Last year was the good old days for us and next year we have a great chance at being elite again. Hell, with competent QB and WR play, we would be elite right now.

It is. UGA has to lose to UT AND two other teams.

Is it mathematically possible? Absolutely. Could UGA lose 1, even 2 games? Definitely. Would I bet on that happening AND UT beating them? Hell no.

I disagree with you there.

As I said before, I look at the schedules and I see Tennessee mathematically eliminated from the SEC East race before UGA gets on the plane to Knoxville.
