Evidently, pigs are not native to North America. . .

FYI - I don't think tigers are either. . .

I thought Razorbacks were native (well at least back to the time the Spanish let their ancestors loose in America) to Arkansas, thus the choice of team mascot for UA. Why not use a real Razorback from Arkansas?

Our game day mascot is an eagle.

No, the choice of mascot comes from a speech from the early 1900s in which Hugo Bezdek, Hall of Fame coach, said that our team fought like a pack of wild razorback hogs (in reference to a game we had just won against LSU). The student body soon voted for the razorback as our new mascot.

We were formerly the Arkansas Cardinals.

I kind of wish we'd use an African warthog for our live mascot, but I think they're probably too dangerous.

They're ugly as hell but they look pretty mean.

Yup, that gets my vote for the ugliest creature God created. IMO, they cross the line and are just too disgusting to be a mascot.

Even the name is disgusting. Who would want to be a Warthog?

Come on, Tusk III is not much prettier. At least warthogs aren't fat, shaggy, lazy looking critters.

I'm not suggesting changing the name of our mascot, however. Arkansas Warthogs sounds retarded. But so does Arkansas Russian Boars.

LSU gets it's nickname from the Civil War battalion the Louisiana Tigers.
