I said that if Bama was 4-2, with losses to Clemson and Georgia, then the talk of firing tubbs this year would not be going on.
Uh, in 2003 they tried to hire petrino the week before the Iron bowl when bama was terrible. Last year when Auburn Started out 2-2 with losses to miss state and south florida...I know for a fact Auburn sent a "feeler" to a certain coach...but Tubs started winning and the rest as the say is history (bama finished 7-6 in case you forgot). Now I will give you this much...Alabama being successful in such a short time under Saban does not help Tuberville's cause and will certainly be a factor if he is let go. But history is not on your side as far as your Auburn would not be talking about firing tubs if bama was 4-2 theory. Tuberville's strained past relationship with the higher ups at auburn along with his one SEC championship in 10 years, annual losses to teams he should not lose to (with the exception of 2004), terrible mismanagement of his staff (6 OC's in 10 years two of which are still being paid but aren't coaching), the fact that he still has the same offensive assistants he had at ole miss (think there is a possibility they might share some of the blame with the 6 fired OC's?), and the state of our program overall compared to LSU, Georgia, and Florida are all reasons Tubs is on the hot seat that have nothing to do with Alabama’s 6-0 start.

He won a terrible game against Arky, lost to LSU, and kept everyone happy and got a pass with the win against Bama and the firing of Al Borges. He hires Franklin, wins the Peach Bowl, raises expectations and here we go all over again. This year probably will go much like last year except I think that Bama has a much better team then last year. Again, my opinion, but I think the reason Tubbs isn't getting a "pass" as much this year is b/c of Bama's record. We are sitting in a good position to go to the SECCG in our coach's 2nd season here, while AU is not.

I see your point, but the main difference was last year the higher ups had support of the masses at 2-2 but lost it after we finished 9-4 after defeating #5 Florida and take away a matt flynn last second touchdown pass at night in baton rouge and we play in Atlanta. This year, we beat msu 3-2, lose to lsu, meltdown against vandy, fire our OC on the Wednesday after his 6th game (and within a year of Borges getting canned) and then lose to Arkansas (arguably the worst team in the sec coached by Petrino in his first year…irony). Midway through last season the fans expected to win or be in every game…this year they are expecting to lose everyone with the exception of Tenn-Martin. The Franklin firing looks like a complete and utter disaster and reflects terribly on tubs, the borges fire was applauded and thought by most to be over due. Once again, the masses unrest is aided by bamas start…but imo you are taking one factor of many and claiming it is the deciding factor. It looks to me like Tubs record in year ten could be 5-7, will likely be 6-6, and best case scenario will be 7-5…if bama went 0-12 I think 5-7 or 6-6 gets the higher ups enough unrest to get him fired...and that is all they have needed since 2004.

Yeah I agree with you. Serious question. What would things be like if he pulls another rabbit out of his hat and beats West Virginia and Georgia? That is a tough task but since this is a internet forum we can what if.

Tough to call. That would be a huge turn around from where we are now, and naturally much of the blame would be shifted to franklin (I'm assuming our offense would improve significantly to finish like that). If we played bama and ole miss close, maybe he rallies enough support to save himself again, especially if Bama is going to Atlanta and UGA finishes strong. I will say this, many of tubs supporters are of the mind set that as long as Auburn beats bama every thing will be hunky dory (particularly amongst the older fans for obvious reasons)...under your scenario they may finally wake the hell up and see the reality of the state our program.
