naw, he wasn't eactly shouted down. having reread the thread, it seems to be 2/2 between Bama fans who think Bamas success has anything to do with TT's percieved troubles at AU and the sane couple that says it's the the current state of AU's football team/program that has him on any kind of hot seat. believe me when I tell you I have seen this idea spouted quite a few times in other threads and boards from UA fans, and to that I was kinda responding.
It is losing to LSU, Vandy, and for God's sake Arkansas that causes the "hot seat", i don't care if Bama was 0-6 right now, that ain't gonna cut it at a place like AU. No way.

i'll agree w/ the bammers on this one. i think if bama was 4-2 tubbs wouldn't be feeling the heat nearly as much. aubbies pay attention a great deal to what bama does, and vice versa (bammers will tell you otherwise, but it's true. the two are obsessed w/ each other).
he got franklin imo due to the fact that saban was tearing him up in recruiting. tubbs needed a fresh and modern offense to sell so he got the spread.
though i hate both schools, i lived in alabama long enough to feel like i understand what is going with them.

I hear ya. Personally, I think Tubby has earned an off-year. I respect the guy, and if he beats Bama at the end of the year the casual Auburn fan will be right back on the Tubs bandwagon. Its the higher-ups that have a problem with him (according to those in the 'know'). They've been waiting for him to slip up since 2003, so they would have just cause to get rid of him. Auburn has almost as much shenanigans going on behind the scenes as Bama does. Having an in-state rival completely changes the ballgame. What goes on at the other school always effects the attitude of boosters/fans. I hope they do fire him, I think it would be a mistake. He's proven he's a good coach, even if he does have only 1 SEC Championship in 10 years.

BG,
You can't seem to comprehend what was said. My statement was not anything close to him leaving/going/fired because of Alabama. I simply stated that he hasn't been able to take it to the next level. By that I mean, more than one championship in 10 years. Couple that with the fact that Bama has been down and pretty much made the west a 2 horse race, I believe that is what some of the trustees are having a problem with.
The only thing I said that had any comparison as to how they are affected by Bama, is the fact that we are on an upswing and they will have a much more difficult time beginning in the near future. Take your head out of your butt and try to read something objectively sometime.

Bama fans better hope he is out before the Iron Bowl. There will be absolutely no pressure on Auburn in that game, and all the pressure in the world on Alabama.

I understand the two schools keeping a close eye on each other, it may be impossible not too. BUT he lost to LSU (at home, they aren't used to that), Vandy on National TV, and Arkansas. Arkansas at home. Could easily have losses to Miss St. and UT on the ledger. How hard is it to see how frickin unacceptable that is on the plains, No Matter What Bama is Doing? It's not even close to '03 when they were up at arms about losing to little ole USC and GT to start the year. Two teams that were better then than Arkansas and Vandy are now. Look at the results for this year again... it's bad. The only thing that would be different for the AU "family" if Bama was 0-6 and not 6-0, is that AU fans would have something to feel good about deep down inside. I know that Bamas succsess so far this year grates AU like nothing else but that wouldn't matter if AU was 5-1 or 6-0. AU would just be talking shite about the upcoming IBowl.

I'm not so sure about that. Watch some of his pressers. It looks to me like he's in a pressure cooker right now. I don't think that will change until he wins a couple of games in a row. That could be a daunting task for the remainder of the schedule.

even if Bama loses a few also. Auburn's season is already a wash.

i agree he would still have heat on him (he had a lot of it last year too after losing to usf and msu--at this point last year bama had 2 losses), but nobody really thought he'd be gone----the screams were more for al borges to be canned. this is the first time since 2003 that i've really thought tubbs could be gone.

I think the only pressure the Bama team feels is the fire Saban keeps lighting under their arse.

Wow!
It sunk in sublimally. You finally get what I said. The other part, to help it sink in the rest of the way is.... it will be harder in the west with Bama playing better now.

Its not much different for LSU. You are the new Auburn and old Auburn now sucks.

Actually, we're returning to the old Bama, and Auburn is through pretending.

no such thing as old Bama. There never really was.

you must be suffering from delusion. must be spending too much time on this bama board Posted on 10/16/08 at 2:39 pm to bamaatlsu
I wasn't alive in the 60's, so I guess I don't know first hand. The black and white films of when Alabama mattered never really appealed to me.

The recent pattern is the put a good season together and about three different types of hell break loose and they ruin themselves. That is the Alabama team I know for the past 40 years.
