tre mason truly was good enough to put up numbers similar to walker and DMc in different systems, against different opponents, etc

FTFY.

He's not as good as the top-tier guys, but he easily could have worked himself into the conversation if he had 2 or 3 heisman quality seasons instead of just 1.

You can look at the long line of college athletes that have put up insane numbers, but are we really trying to make a case for Case Keenum, Timmy Chang, Landry Jones, or Graham Harrell as the best Qbs of all time?

The system has just as much to do with the statistics as the player does.

The Minnesota Vikings traded away their francise's future for Herschel.... Tre Mason was recently given a 3rd round grade.

Do you really think Tre is in the conversation with Herschel and McFadden? Honestly, in your heart of hearts do you think they belong in the same sentence?

McFadden? Yes. Herschel? Na but it's fun to watch the butthurt in here.

so the system is responsible for making this mediocre back create such high numbers... well good luck SEC, prepare for a miserable season filled with auburn destroying every defense in front of it

in todays draft very few go real early in rounds. that being said, some experts have tabbed him the best RB in this years draft...

McFadden was also splitting touches with Jones and Hillis.

I'm sorry if I'm not as convinced of TM's historical collegiate greatness as you are.

Let's give it a few years to see if it was just because of Gus or not.

Good thing no one pimps the SEC out for the elite defenses they put on the field.

You're probably right. SEC defenses are no better than Mountain West, Conference USA, or Big 12 defenses that those players put their numbers up against.

Mason split touches with Artis-Payne, Grant, & Marshall.

I never said he was mediocre; he may very well be the best RB in this class.
We're laughing at him thinking he's better than Herschel.

Exactly. Circling around to the fundamental point I was making. Context is important when comparing players and statistics (and draft value).

Way to miss the point.

i dont remember him saying "i'm better than Herschel"

i think it was more like "numbers dont lie"

he said that in order to compare his numbers to the best yet not say hes better... IMO

His implication was that his statistics compare favorably versus Walker's, and if his numbers were better, by inference, he was better.

Ultimately, his intention was to compare himself to Herschel, and it was foolish.

he merely stated "numbers dont lie" the implication was determined by the recipient.

as all true football fans understand, numbers do not always equate to talent, you are arguing that fact yourself.

he allowed you to create your own conclusion by giving an open-ended question "King?"
then stating "numbers dont lie"
followed by stats comparing himself to some of the SECs best...

using stats alone you can compare them...

i know he doesnt actually believe that he is better because he left off Bo Jacksons numbers...

So you are saying Garrison Hearst is better than Herschel too?
You can't really be this stupid, or are you?

But yes, using AU logic he is. And Colt Brennan is the best QB to ever play

dude what? have you seen a 4.33 rb at your school?

this is what it looks like with an injured foot.
4.33 vs lsu

the difference between tre and dmac is that everyone expected mcfadden to be involved in the play. He'd run the ball straight through the line for incredible gains, even though everyone in the stadium knew what was going to happen.

look at dmac's highlights then tre's.

Not only that, but the USFL staked the entire future of their league on Herschel Walker.

Not to butt in , but we've seen a 4.33 RB at our school. In fact we saw him on the very next play after your link.

TRINDON!!!

Sorry, but I couldn't resist.

did you ask an auburn fan this?

So nobody knew auburn was going to run it every time? I thought we were made fun of for never passing it

Nice stats work by the agent. But you can't really compare players from such different eras. the game was different.

Would Tre have Herchel's numbers on Georgia's 1981 Team?

Would Herchel have Tre's numbers on Auburn's 2013 team?

Same for RUN DMC...

I think if all 3 were on the same team, Herchel is atop the depth chart.
