Oh it's an argument. He was the poster boy for poor clock management in the media this year. He's the butt of constant jokes. It's definately an argument.

which of the coach's teams I ranked below him had a better year than miles' team did?

Which of those teams has as much talent to work with as LSU? They're stacked with talent, killing in recruiting, and they're .500 in the SEC over the last 2 years.

I'm not trying to pile on Miles but I am just not a fan of his coaching style. The riverboat gambler thing is great when you're getting lucky, but when you're not people notice some big problems.

and I can say he had a RSFR running the show, went 3-5, then this year straightened it out a bit and got back on track at 5-3. depends on how you look at it. I'll tell you one thing, I expect no worse than 10-2 next year

Name a coach that isnt the butt of jokes on here.

None of what you said proves he's a bad coach.

You might be right. Most people were expecting 10-2 this year as well though. We'll see soon enough. The talent is definately there to go 10-2 or better.

I believe that Houston Nutt has thouroghly proven that he's a better coach than Les Miles.

nah, prolly 2/3 of the fans thought we'd be 9-3. Losses to UA/UF & either UGA or OM. That's what I thought. I thought we had a legitimate shot at 11-1. Didn't think bama would be quite so good and thought we could beat OM. Both games (especially OM) could have gone either way. We just were unlucky.

It kinda does. Clock management is a huge part of being a good coach.

Having more talent than anyone in the SEC, except Florida and going 8-8 in the SEC over a 2 year span is also a bad sign.

Putting the game on Lee's back as a freshman is where I really thought him and Crowton were not a very good coaching duo. I know Lee was bad but they put him in position to fail.

I see 5-3 over 1 year. 08 was a do over year. let it be forgotten, move on, shite happens. '10 will tell the tale. there's NO excuses next year

Because he's not a lucky fricker like Les Miles.
I'm not saying that Houston Nutt deserves a top Job and is an elite coach. He's not, and neither is les.
However, It's been proven on the football field that he's better than Les Miles.

Rich Brooks is the best coach in the SEC. ETA: not counting nick saban
He turns a team that finishes in the mid 50's in recruiting every year into a bowl team. Every year.
Kentucky has finished no better than 10th in recruiting in the past five years at Kentucky.

Motivation is one of the most important aspects of coaching, Corndogholio.

he might be a better gameday coach. Kinda hard to even argue that. Unless you wanna blame the coordinators. I mean we gave up 50 in 07. Pelini gotta take the blame for that shite.
But overall, I don't think so. There's more to college football than just the X's & O's.

Recruiting, Coaching, Managing, Motivating, Decision making, etc. All these combine to give you Overall Coaching Ability. Of which, Saban has twice as much as anybody else

There are many parts to being a college football coach. Clock management is a part but not a HUGE part.
