1. Petrino left Atlanta with 3 games to play - Who cares? Coaches can get fired and replaced midseason, the door swings both ways. Atlanta is a professional program, it's just business. The professional athletes can cry all they want, doesn't make Petrino a bad man.

2. Petrino's hated because he talked to the Auburn administration when Tubberville was still coach? Big fricking deal, it's business.

DeAngelo Hall was the biggest shite talker about Petrino on that team.

His arse got promptly cut by the Falcons soon after.

And yet, Kiffin was still able to nab blonde bombshell Layla as his wife. Naturally, fans hate him for that too.

I ran across a UCLA web blog about when USC hired Kiffin. They compared Kiffin to one time UCLA basketball coach, Steve Lavin because he got where he is because of who his father is.

They then went on to say Lavin was like Fredo and Kiffin was like Michael Corleone. LINK

quote:

Lane Kiffin reminds me a little bit of Steve Lavin, though he's probably a better coach than that all things considered. Lavin's entre into coaching was familial: His father was a legendary high school coach and Steve Lavin cut his teeth at his father's camps. His initial forays into coaching were due to his name, not his acumen. One time, before he was even UCLA's head coach, someone I knew from the Bay Area referred to him as "the chosen one." Basically, people knew he'd go into coaching because he'd been groomed for it. That he turned out to be Fredo and and not Michael or even Sonny was just fate.

Taking the metaphor further, Lane is probably more like Sonny -- with his father as consiglieri and Ed Orgeron as Luca Brasi. But like Lavin, he got into coaching by hanging on to the shirt tails of his more accomplished father.

The Orgeron being like Luca is some funny shite.

They got number 1 right.

Not only is Kiffin not that great of a coach, but a scumbag as well. But he can apparently recruit.
