Exactly. There are OCs in the SEC and around the country that would run circles around Petrino. Such a stupid hire for the criticism that came with it

Good hire and Pittman needs plenty of help.

Imo...it hardly ever works when you hire based on "once upon a time". Nostalgia can kill a program.

You can never go back home and it be the same as it was. We'll soon see if that's true in this case.

Is Petrino bringing an entire offensive line? If not, I’m not sure it will matter what play he calls.

There are ways an OC can hide shitty O-Line play, but neither Briles nor Enos were capable of doing so apparently. I can count on one hand the number of running back screens we have ran the last several years. Same with quick slants and rub routes. Same with utilizing the tight end in the offense, although our stud TE getting hurt didn't help there.

Petrino's system is much more about taking advantage of weaknesses and mis-matches than it is about scheme. It's also much more about holding people accountable when they go bonehead, run the wrong routes, make the wrong read, and miss blocks.

The only time I remember that type of situation was when Joe Kines was interim coach and he brought in Danny Ford to “help” him. There was no doubt what was going to happen then.

Crowe was a knee jerk mistake hire by Broyles when Hatfield bolted to clemson, he regretted that mistake for awhile.

There’s no reason to believe there is some type of conspiracy with the Petrino hire at this point. It was a hire that needed to happen.
