Unfortunately, there were just too many instances where we didn't look like we had a clue of what we were supposed to do and that resonated with our fans.
Leave it be, man. When Louisville fans asked us about him three years ago, we warned them. They didn't believe us. A quick perusal of their own message boards today and you'd be amazed at how adept they have become with terminology like "3rd and Grantham".
In fairness, we've done this, too. I mean....Chaney? I still have some hope, though.

I'm not really warning them as much as I'm giving a recap on his stint here. At the end of the day, it's definitely an upgrade from the last guy at MSU who had no prior DC experience.
I just hope Todd tells his DB to bat the ball down this year in Jordan-Hare.

Agree with this. I do think Grantham will do much better for MSU.
And for those who only look at the stats, take it from this Louisville fan and his response to a fellow Cardinal who pointed out Grantham's well ranked Ds there:

Just like someone else I know, you look at the stats or whatever and see that you have a top 10 or whatever on paper, but I watch a game like Houston, UK and even LSU and know that numbers don't tell the whole story and you can make numbers tell whatever story you want to hear.

Shocked that a fan base is critical of a coach that left them. He had 3 straight top 15 D's at Louisville. And did so in their first three years in the ACC, competing with conference USA level talent.
We had people "glad" to get rid of Geoff Collins 2 years ago. Fans are idiots.

He gave up 360 yards per game his last year here, which we have never done at any other time in our history.
2013? Injuries on the offensive side of the ball and the inability for the offense to stay on the field was a big factor in that. UGA was 73 in time of possession, 56th in 3rd down conversions, and 68th in turnovers lost.

Dude is a massive D-bag. He will embarrass his school and his HC with his bullshite look at me antics almost immediately.
Im frankly surprised he lasted as long as he did with Petrino. There will be some antics with this guy this year... guaranteed.

Stats don't tell the whole story unless your defense was ranked #110. Then the stats paint a good enough picture.

It would be unfair to say that he didn't walk into a pretty good situation with Charlie Strong's defense and the two guys he took with him from UGA.

And again, I give you that. Grantham is DEFINITELY an upgrade for you. Not arguing that. Will it get you guys over the proverbial "hump"? Couldn't say.

You only get to claim one win in that span and it was against our worst team in well over a decade.
Well, you beat us in 2011, when we had the 2nd worst team in Mullen's 8 seasons.

What's this proverbial" hump" you speak of?

I dunno.....maybe being in the conversation for the SEC West? Winning the SEC? Those seem like good places to start.

Petrino told Grantham to look for a new job. Lol congrats.

Hope you guys enjoy 3rd and Grantham

Hope you guys enjoy a guy that finished with a defense ranked 110th in the country with higher rated players than he is about to take over.
Posted on 1/11/17 at 3:51 pm to Louisville4Life
He told Grantham to look for a new job and then replaced him with the worst defensive coordinator in the country. Seems legit.
Posted on 1/11/17 at 3:57 pm to Louisville4Life
Not sure about that but I do know that Sirmon was told he could find a new job or get the boot, that's a fact.
Congrats on replacing a great DC with the worst I've ever seen though. You guys really came out on top.
