The Midwest is largely dying. Enrollment in big ten schools will drop in the coming decades. People and businesses are moving to the South. The South is currently the most populated region in the country (including Texas) and it will only get bigger.
That’s a trend, once everyone that can moves to the South, the real estate will sky-rocket here and drop like a rock in the Midwest and rust-belt, then people will move back in droves. Even so i seriously doubt that enrollment will drop in BIG schools, the education and reputation at most of those schools is top notch, and people will never not want a prestigious degree to hang on the wall.

Will enrollment drop at Northwestern and Michigan? No. But it will drop at Indiana, Minnesota, Iowa, Rutgers, Michigan St, etc.

The prestige of mid tier Big Ten schools will drop when the people move away.
I know you would hate to admit it, but the Hope scholarship and the influx of people into the state of Georgian has elevated the prestige of UGA compared to 30 years ago.

So you think NY/NJ is going to empty out to the point that Rutgers will lose enrollment? I know it seems like those states are emptying out and coming to the South by the millions but but i am pretty sure that the vast majority are staying- people up there are still breeding, those schools will all be fine.

North Carolina is an add for the SEC. First choice. Not sure who we add after that. Carolina is a big brand

Yes, with the high cost of living and the high taxes in New Jersey I do think Rutgers’ enrollment will dip over the next 20 years. Could see it at a school like Illinois too.

Adding more teams just pushes auburn down in the tier list.

Conferences can no longer be regional. Maybe 50 years from now whoever is left on this board will accept this.
