So he is saying that Carmon could eventually be good at LT meaning he's not very good now. And that he needs to work his arse off at pass blocking. So essentially he's not good at run blocking and terrible at pass blocking, and I assume he's first string so the other guy must be worse.
The coach tried to say it in a positive way, but that's just coach speak to make the terrible backup try harder.

Seriously. In 2009 we were in the same situation with Sowell. He struggled most of the season in 2009 but is now a pretty solid player, not all-world like Carmon will be, but solid nonethless.

The coach was saying that Carmon is doing very well at LT and he just needs to shore up the pass-protections- this quote wasnt to media, but between friends

Nowhere in there did he say he is doing good at Run blocking at LT and just needs to "shore up" his pass blocking. He says he'll be good before its over with. He will improve during the season and according to him the final product will be good, implying he is not good yet. From the way he said it he implied that carmons not good run blocking is his better quality thus implying that his pass blocking is worse than just not good, ie terrible.

I will say that Carmon has dropped 50 lbs since arriving to campus from JUCO and thatbshow the type of work ethic he has.
