Way to start a thread and not even explain what you’re trying to say. How is Texas and OU joining related to NIL? Might as well just start a thread saying “things I’m upset about”.

This is all a about maximizing revenue when the playoff expands. If there was no expansion there UT and OU wouldn’t be coming. This would still be happening without NIL.

TUw and OU had an easier path to the playoffs in the Big 12...they are in with hat in hand with the SEC's $3 billion deal with ABC/Disney...

This is the SEC seeing the writing on the wall and (smartly) getting ahead of everyone else.

Conference expansion is about TV revenue and nothing else. Dont kid yourself. With the playoff expanding there is less risk in being in a conference with a single dominant team that will block everyone else in the conference. I am not referring to just Bama... any dominant team in the SEC is likely going to bump all others from the current playoff system. UGA is the only one to have bucked that trend.

If this will not make more money for the member schools then it will not happen. The members of the SEC are not going to slice the pie again and take a smaller piece so they can make a mega conference.

Yes this will hurt LSU from a marketing standpoint. Texas has more to offer from throat angle.

I think it weakens LSU as well. A&M may help by leaving by opening area to those who like SEC but not Texas, but Texas has the money and resources to do exactly what they have been doing for years in Big 12. It might not work exactly the same with SEC, but Texas almost immediately has more clout with other schools with its resources than LSU. Even if Texas screws themselves over with football they will always try to be center of attention and try to build alliances to get what they want not what’s best for SEC.

LSU doesn’t have same power in state as other state schools. It’s board has always been a cluster and state politics even worse. Huey Long was more interested in being part of the marching band not securing LSU’s financial future and it’s place as flagship from crappy and petty Louisiana politics and universities all over the state playing politics. LSU would sell soul for money right now and just might have done so with Texas.
