This is the SEC seeing the writing on the wall and (smartly) getting ahead of everyone else.

College football is changing rapidly, for better or worse

CFB is a mini-NFL now and nothing about school, academics & amateur athletics

I'm not really sure how anyone can be mad about adding UT and OU. People complain about the cupcake games. I would guess it's more than likely the SEC moves to a nine game schedule.

To get a nine game schedule you don’t have to add two teams to the league. Furthermore, you are getting trips to Texas and Oklahoma and losing trips to Bama, Florida and Auburn

I would put money on the line that high level college football splits off from the NCAA within 5 years.

This is all a about maximizing revenue when the playoff expands. If there was no expansion there UT and OU wouldn’t be coming. This would still be happening without NIL.

we are seeing the beginning of the end of college sports, upper tier has hardly been "amateur" for some time, now the facade isn't even there anymore

People quickly forgot how much hype there was about going to Austin in 2019.

Yup…that was a great fricking trip and I didn’t even have tickets to the game

Please stop pretending it has ever been about academics and amateur athletics. The NIL money you are seeing is what was already being paid by bagmen. Things have not changed very much really.

Well it is hard to get mad, SCOTUS by a 9-0 vote ruled against the NCAA. So anyone wanting to make this political, can't go that route either. It is the law of the land by a landslide.

Yes this will hurt LSU from a marketing standpoint. Texas has more to offer from throat angle.

Almost absurd that it they were not able to make money off of their likeness. Seems like a violation of liberty to not allow it.

I agree, in fact Associate Justice Kavanaugh questioned the entire NCAA period, although compensation across the board was not part of the case, only NIL. But he stated that no Business in the USA would be allowed to do what the NCAA is doing under the guise of NCAA amateurism.
