We need him there so we can continue to steal 4-star recruits from you

You do realize that even if Nick Saban had a clone of himself that was the coach at UGA, bama (and florida, and auburn, and fsu, and UT, etc) would still pick talent out of Georgia right? There's just too many 4 and 5 star players in the state for UGA to keep every single one of them.

I see what you're saying, but while it's a heated game and they're included in the fight song, it's not a rivalry.

I concede that it isn't much of a rivalry now. I mean, how can it be since we don't play them hardly anymore? We play Tennessee and Auburn every year, those are our main rivals. I was simply arguing that proximity does not equal rivalry. That's how this whole argument got started.

Let me just say this...so long as Richt is there, you're never going to make it to the next level. Alabama fans like where you are now because it keeps our defensive coordinator at UA and it allows him to successfully recruit in Georgia. If Richt ever wins a national championship at UGA it will be in spite of himself. He's the SEC's version of Mack Brown.

I haven't read every reply so I can't weigh in on how it started, but obviously proximity alone doesn't equal rivalry. However, we've played Clemson 62 times (and bama only 65 btw), they are less than 2 hours from campus, and those 80s matchups were VERY significant on a national scale. In the 80s, you could argue clemson was our 2nd or 3rd biggest rival at the time.

Phase 3, 2011-current. This phase is much more reminiscent of phase 1 than 2. The discipline, toughness, and fundamentals that were highlighted phase 1 that were sorely lacking in phase 2 look to have returned. Our staff is light years better than phase 2. Our DC is cut from the same cloth as our first one was. We have a very good QB and a great defense. Taking all of that combined with our favorable schedule, I think that the 3rd "year 2" of Richt's tenure could be the best yet.

Come on bruh. If Uga had to play LSU Bama or arky they wouldn't have been in the sec championship game.

Then why are they arguing with UGA fans in this very thread on how we will always be mediocre (and I use that term loosely) while he is here. I just don't believe that is the case. I am no huge fan of his or anything, but looking strictly at numbers, it does not suggest that we have been mediocre, or always be mediocre under him.

Does some of the shite he does, and his undying loyalty to assistants, and the discipline problems irritate the shite outta me? You bet your arse.

Because that's what we believe and it's the main reason why we want him to stay there. Like I said, he's the Mack Brown of the SEC. It will take a Vince Young/Cam Newton to get you guys over the hump like it did Brown.

And if LSU or bama played the Falcons' schedule they'd be winless. Good thing that's not how the schedules worked out huh?

No it won't. 03 LSU, 06 UF, 07 LSU, 08 UF, 11 bama all needed a few breaks to win their titles. Our teams were absolutely good enough in 02 and 07 but they didn't get the breaks.

If you keep putting yourself in position, eventually you'll win it all. If we keep a competent DC around, and keep bringing in good enough talent, we'll win it eventually.

Well the third best team in the west curb stomped the best team in the east. USC just had to play a good west team.

True enough. But I don't believe Richt can put you into a position to catch those breaks. And if he can't win it all this year, he isn't ever going to win it. You don't play Alabama, LSU, or Arkansas. Tennessee is going to suck something fierce and Florida, I think, is still a year away from contending for the East. The only team that can stop you in the East this year is South Carolina. If you finish with anything worse than a 10-2 record this year Richt should be fired.

We're happy with Richt there, why would we want him gone?

Yes, Richt's been mediocre. When you factor in everything he has. I'll give UGA credit where credit is due. Recruiting base, recruiting classes, no real instate threat, $$$$, fan support, facilities, etc. If you put all those things together than yes hes done a mediocre job. Do you know how many universities/coaches would kill for those built in advantages?

Fair enough, but he's already shown twice that he can.

I do wholeheartedly agree that this is his best chance yet.

Oh Adam Mayock, don't you have a draft show to watch so you can spout it off as if it's your own scouting?
The thread is about UGA's rise, which wouldn't be mentioned had you played a good west team. My post is warranted.
