I don't buy into the notion that fans & ticketholders can't do anything about the Mark Richt situation.

If enough asses aren't in those seats, you can bet St. Richt would be fired real fast.

But Shula, unlike Richt, never won a damn thing and was constantly shat on by his biggest rival.

Kinda sounds like those Alabama-Georgia games from the mid-80s. A few of those games had SEC implications.

Really? Which one of the TWO games Alabama and Georgia played in the 1980s had "SEC implications"? Was it the 1984 game when 7-4-1 Georgia beat 5-6 Alabama in Birmingham? Or the 1985 game when 9-2-1 Alabama used a season-opening 20-16 win over 7-3-2 Georgia as a springboard to vault itself into a 3rd place tie with LSU behind Tennessee and Florida in the final SEC standings?

And yet you still regard Clemson as a rival, even though you now only play them once a decade?

Why not? Twice a decade was enough to sustain the great Alabama-Georgia rivalry of the 1980s, wasn't it?

You win a date with Beetle Juice.

Brantley was not a QB. He did stay in a holiday inn express one time though.

WR recruiting was Urban's fault. You knew that though.

there are talks to shelve this series btw. May just be scuttlebutt but there are some talks to cancel it.

I believe the Clemson AD has said something regarding the fact that it will be played. I'm not sure if they are moving the dates though.

rivalries dont just pop up from a few good games, and recent recruiting battles.

I think there is a reason why Georgia was included in our fight song all those years ago. Clearly that game had some meaning at one point, meaning to Alabama fans at least. Tennessee didn't become a big game for Alabama until the 1930s, meanwhile our fan base had been singing about teaching the Bulldogs to behave since the 20s.

Overtime the Tennessee game evolved into a bigger game than Georgia and the Auburn game became a bigger one just out of common sense and necessity. Up until the divisional split, I will contend that the game with Georgia was usually the third biggest game of the year.

Sure, you as an individual will have no impact. But if the majority of your fanbase does it you can guarontee the BOT/AD will hear you.

I guess what you're really saying is the you're a small minority in the UGA fanbase. The majority of your fanbase in content with 9-10 win seasons. Hey, that's fine by me, leave the championships to the big boys.

It's not like voting. One guy may say "Well I'm one vote, it doesn't matter", when in reality if thousands like him actually DID vote for ______ the candidate would win.

Even if thousands of UGA fans said "Richt sucks!" it is still SOLELY on the shoulders of one Greg McGarity to make the decision. Yes, I understand you're saying that if more people spoke up GM might think about things, but ultimately at the end of the day he's going to do what HE personally thinks is best for UGA, because that's his job.

Clearly we didn't play Georgia as often as I thought we did in the 1980s. My apologies, we all make mistakes. Still...that game meant something to Alabama fans at one point. We still sing about you in our fight song.

Has that ever happened? Repeating "you never crossed the 45 yard line" over and over again doesn't equal owning someone. In fact it proves the opposite, since that's the only line he could come up with.

I see what you're saying, but while it's a heated game and they're included in the fight song, it's not a rivalry.

About the UT rivalry, read the description on the link about the book. While the rivalry really took off with Gen Neyland, it started with an on the field brawl between the two fanbases. UT fans were mad about the officiating, and rushed the field, well our fans saw that and a massive hillbilly arse beating took place.

Great book btw.

NO! By all means don't fire Richt. We need him there so we can continue to steal 4-star recruits from you. Richt has done a good job keeping them in state the last couple years, but I think we'll steal the Top 2 this year.
