No one can compare to what Miami fielded in 2001.

13 1st round draft picks, I repeat 13 1st round draft picks. 7 of which were defense.

Great college D's are judged on more than just draft picks. That said, we may look back in a few years and see 7 1st rounders from last year's Bama D. Already have 3 that went in the first round, could have 2 more this year, and we'll see after that.

Right, it's more than just draft picks. But just talentwise - no one can really compare to 2001 Miami.

The loss of Ed Reed is the main reason why I despise Jerry Dinardo.

Not yet. Alabama 2011 has a good chance to match that mark with three first rounders already, and lots of players in the future like Jesse Williams, Nico Johnson, Mosely, Milliner and Lester to name a few. That's not counting younger guys in the rotation like Vinnie, Dickson, Pagan, etc.

I disagree. Bama's D last year was suffocating all year long. Miami should have lost to Boston College and at least one other game that year. They had great individual talent, but at the time nobody was saying they were one of the GOAT, and that's because they weren't. They played a weak arse schedule in a weak arse conference and didn't dominate like Bama 2011 D did. End of story. And Bama 2011 will end up with just as many draft picks before it's all said and done. Heck, the 2011 Bama D has already had 6 players drafted, 3 of which were in the 1st round with more to come over the next 2-3 years. People will look back at the 2011 Bama D one day in amazement.

Roll your eyes all you want, but Alabama has lead the conference in Total Defense every year since 2008.

2008
2009
2010
2011

LSU hasn't had a defense rank higher than Alabama's statistically since 2007.

We've won two NC's in that period. How about your team?

Perhaps, but other than NFL draft choices - the 2011 Bama defenses outclasses the 2001 Miami defenses in all categories.

The draft choices will even out over the next 2 years as well.
