Here, you can compare the 1st week top-4 for each year to the top 4 who eventually made it in, plus the champions of each year. Changes are surely to be made by season's end of this year.
No CFP top 4 team that lost in the first week of their rankings has ever become champion (doesn't bode well for Alabama and Penn State this year).
1st Week - 2019
1. Ohio State
2. LSU
3. Alabama (lost)

I know no one likes it but no one has answered, who do you put in front of Bama to be in the 4th spot?

Looks like Alabama has been on the outside looking in
Has always been in
Same old story

1-loss conference champion Oregon, Utah, or Oklahoma.

My current top-4 for this week now:
1. LSU
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. Georgia
5. Alabama
6. Oregon
Why UGA ahead of Bama? SOS is much better than Bama's and our defense is the best in the nation: UGA's the only team in America that hasn't allowed a rushing TD and we are #2 in the country in the number of shutouts thus far. However, UGA has the worst loss (to South Carolina) compared to Bama. That's a concern.
My ? about UGA is our offense: UGA's banged up. Against Missouri, 4 starters on the O went down. Real big concern here. Bama's offense is much better than ours, but I'm going to give the nod to UGA due to better optics that the CFP committee probably will be taking into consideration.
