I feel like it was Iowa that did this first.

This would make sense since UGA has pretty much copied every tradition they have from someone else. Dog walk, the Green Bay Packers logo on their helmet, Battle hymn, etc.

Is it possible that Leach is just confusing the equipment room for a locker room?

Best named visitor locker room is Bama’s, called The Fail Room after donor and grad James Fail.

It looks to be relatively luxurious.

Jackie Sherrill wanted to make the visiting locker room as bad as possible.

State upgraded its locker room during the first expansion in the early 00s. They took the space that housed the locker room Leach is speaking about and the former home locker room became the visiting locker room.

Then they switched again at the beginning of the Mullen era. They renovated the visiting locker room into a home locker room and gave the visitors the 2001 renovated room.

Then they built a new visiting locker room with the 2014 expansion on the North side of the stadium and turned the old visiting locker room into a recruiting room.

Then prior to the 2018 season, they built a state of the art locker room on the North side of the stadium and now both teams are under the end zone expansion.
