How soon u forget, didn't bama get in to championship without winning division or conference last year. I guess u have selective memory.
I'm pretty sure this hasn't been covered.

It is quite funny how everyone outside the state of Alabama is seeing that the system is obviously favoring them.
Pre season rankings are ruining CFB. Bama's SOS can be total shite (which it is, and will be next year), but if they are preseason top 3, they'll get the nod if they have just one loss. Even with BS wins over UK, UT and Mizzou.
I mean it's a pretty flawed system. And no I'm not all butthurt about it or anything. Just simply saying preseason rankings should GTFO, and let SOS play a role when the BCS rankings come out.

If Saban was such a sanctimonious jack arse, this wouldn't even be an issue.

Pre season rankings are just dumb though.

That having a 3 point overtime loss to an undefeated #1 team in the country and the other 1-loss teams losing to worse opponents is the same as this year? Listen, I still feel weird about last year's title, and I understand Florida's plight this year. But the way the system works, Alabama got in because of sheer chaos. Florida could have gotten in the same way, but things didn't get chaotic this year. ND loses to USC and they're in against the SEC champ, just like last year

I think his point is that UF has a better resume this year based off of who they lost to. The only thing keeping Alabama in it is that they are playing for the SECCG (which didn't matter last year), and their pre season ranking.
It's pretty obvious what is going on. UF is very unlucky this year. Bama got very lucky.
We need to do away with pre season rankings to keep things fair.
And we also need to decide how important winning your conference actually is. There's a double standard going on in the SEC right now.
Everyone sees it except you guys. (and maybe not some UF fans because they are just glad to be where they are)

Most logical post of the night.
2014 should solve this since the committee in theory will objectively select the best 4 teams. We'll see though.

You are the first to admit that last year's title is a little shaky. (Weird is your word.) The bama fanbase has overall turned off most other schools fans. Thus the premise of the! OP that fla is out because they didn't win their division is breathtaking, given that bama got in last year with a mulligan and the fact that voters down graded okie state to boost bama up to 2. Different scenario granted.

I understand a lot of you're points, and I understand that Florida had an amazing SOS whereas Bama's lacked. I just think that 2011's surrounding circumstances are incomparable to 2012's.
I don't think winning the conference isn't important, the winner went last year. But should we necessarily say the second best team in conference has to win their division? I agree, Florisa is the best team in the East, and yet, they lost the division.
I just don't like my perspective being called BS by anybody when I'm not being unreasonable.

Agreed. Ridiculous statement.

Notre Dame = LSU (undefeated)
Florida = Alabama (1 loss; didn't win division, best resume)
Alabama = Ok. St. ( 1 loss; won conference, weaker resume)
How is this not comparable? Do we need to draw a picture?
For the record, i actually think the division and conference titles matter which is why ok st should have been in last year. It is just mindboggling how this will break Bama 's way in consecutive years and very few Bama fans will even acknowledge it.

I think next year will be just as chaotic because there will be much disagreement and dissatisfaction from teams 5-8. This committee will use what criteria? Until last year the system at least tried to put some objectivity into the process, but then it got screwy with eyeball tests, mulligans and voters with an agenda.

It is the exact same scenario.
