The TS Home Field Myth is Busted - SEC Home Conference Records

Due to the well-known reputation of Tiger Stadium as an intimidating arena for opponents ( ), I ran the home conference records of each of the SEC teams since the construction of each school’s home stadium, just to see where things stood. Of course, Bama played an awful lot at Legion Field (and the Pigs played a few in Little Rock), but for consistency, I included all games that were considered home games.
1. Bama (Bryant Denny, opened in 1929): 203-70-13, 71.0%
2. Tennessee (Neyland, opened in 1921): 206-79-11, 69.6%
3. Auburn (Jordan-Hare, opened in 1939): 139-65-9, 65.3%
4. UF (Ben Hill Griffin, opened in 1930): 150-73-9, 64.7%
5. UGA (Sanford Stadium, opened in 1929): 137-77-6, 62.3%
6. LSU (Tiger Stadium, opened in 1924): 181-111-11, 59.7%
7. Arkansas (Razorback Stadium, SEC since 1992): 44-34-1, 55.7%
8. Ole Miss (Vaught-Hemingway, construction started 1915): 113-92-6, 53.6%
9. USCe (Williams-Brice, SEC since 1992): 35-44-1, 43.8%
10. MSU (Davis Wade Stadium, opened in 1914): 83-118-4, 40-5%
11. Kentucky (Commonwealth Stadium, opened in 1973): 49-89, 35.5%
12. Vandy (Vanderbilt Stadium, opened in 1922): 106-189-14, 34.3%
Okay...now that we all understand that LSU is simply a middle of the road, ho-hum place to play as well as a stadium in which to get a reasonably easy road win...
Let the onslaught of LSU fans begin, with their cherry-picking of specific seasons and eras to show that this voluminous, Crowellianesque data is simply incorrect.

LSU fans will just pick a time period that fits them instead of counting all time. They're the best at doing that.

Bama padded their stats by playing their easy opponents at BDS for 70 years.

Only sixth, that's rather pathetic. Does anyone know Alabama's record in night games in the old dump?

We'll see this season buddy, you seem nervous.

This is SEC teams only. But yeah, I guess you could say we padded our stats vs. the SEC.

Man you did an awful lot of work You must be really stressed about this game.
I guess when Bear Bryant and Nick Saban say it's the toughest place in the country to play they just don't know what they are talking about?

You are trying really hard to convince yourself that TS at night is an easy task.

Nobody is arguing that Bama has a long tradition. I think that is pretty obvious.

Probably because the 70s and 80s have little to do with LSU today

Nope. Just pointing out the fallacy that is TS's reputation.

You act like it's THAT much more difficult than BDS....

What happened the last time Bama played in Tiger Stadium?

Must have a lot of time on your hands. Our record will be better after 11/3

Nobody says that TS can win games all by itself. It helps when the talent level of the 2 teams is close though.
It sounds like you think you know more than Bear or Saban though. Interesting.

I really don't recall anyone saying this. But to act like a home game is not an advantage is just ridiculous. Plain and simple.

Not really...Google and Stassen are the bomb for research. And the game is almost four months away. No worries, no stress.

Bama fans weren't as rowdy and as intimidating as I thought they would be on 11/5/11. I had almost forgot that it was #1 vs #2 playing. I also had seats in a sea of red
