The stages of LSU fans

1) Quietly brag about how good the team looks during spring.
2) After beating a bunch of mediocre teams, claim they “told us so” weeks ago.
3) Intense bragging and discussing where to book hotels for the championship a week before their toughest game against a decent team.
4) Go into hiding after the inevitable loss.
5) 2-3 days later emerge from the pits of hell and claim the team they lost to is the best team in the country so anyone would have lost.
6) Regain glimpses of hope only to lose 2-3 more games as usual.
7) Rinse, repeat
8) Straight losses to Bama soon

Insecure Redneck U getting after it early this morning. How many times have you threatened family members at gunpoint because they weren’t mad enough about a mediocre performance by the tahd?

As many times as LSU has titles in the last 10 years.

Your school is broke and your fanbase has delusions of grandeur. Y'all in Grey Gardens bragging about your past and actually believing y'all are still just as good, the Little Edie to our Jackie O

L8U fans need to stop kidding themselves with the jokes about people from Alabama and their sisters, trailer parks, rednecks, etc. I'm guessing most on this board have been to Louisiana and seen what it's about and how many of you live. It's not pretty. If Alabama is a punchline, Louisiana is without a doubt the same. Just sayin.

Why do you think LSU is broke?

Y'all have been in the news for financial troubles for years now... At one point your governor had to threaten a failure to address it would result in an even worse product (or no product at all) on the field. Your apparent ignorance of LSUs financial woes has me concerned about your priorities. I'll pray for your program and for you to reweight what you think deserves your attention, poor.

Nice, but almost fiction.
They are rarely quiet about anything. Half of the fan base this offseason were vocally bashing Coach Oeaux as a half rate shrimp boat Cpt. The other half were extolling the addition of Jeaux Burrow as if they'd acquired Tom Brady and the final piece to 14-0 'ship was added to the roster for the mastermind Ensminger.
The difference will be an L8U squad calling for Oeaux's head or an ended streak team demanding a raise/extension and real life shrimp boat delivered.

quote:partially true, but it was more to co-opt the negatigers of their own fan base mentioned above from the pre-season.
2) After beating a bunch of mediocre teams, claim they “told us so” weeks ago.
quote:Not quite CFP championship just yet. But, certainly believing SEC CG. However, the true focus was on an early build up to Game of the Century Pt III hosted in BR. It is also the typical time that the anti-LSU coaching staff segment all rally in support of whatever eccentric coach is leading the Team and all of said coach's quirks become enduring and past slip ups forgiven. They begin to brag about how their, now, sarcastically described "shrimp boat CPT" HC managed to beat all of those teams.
3) Intense bragging and discussing where to book hotels for the championship a week before their toughest game against a decent team.
quote:This is simply untrue. They are out in full force. All of the love for coaches and optimism for the season is drained overnight. It turns vitriol with criticism of every facet of the team and fan in fighting. The only common ground some of them find is that the refs are to blame. But, they hardly go into hiding.
4) Go into hiding after the inevitable loss.
quote:nope, see above, they never left. But, after 2-3 days they all do seem to be back on the same page with whatever the consensus rationalization for the loss will be and what the way ahead will provide. For that, they do show some signs of resiliency.
(5) 2-3 days later emerge from the pits of hell and claim the team they lost to is the best team in the country so anyone would have lost
quote:typically, yes, their usual OCT slate rebuilds hope for the post-season and the end of the avoidance of making L8U is very tangible. However, the UGA addition to the schedule will either exacerbate that shift of emotion should they beat UGA or shift to a "frick everything else and go all in on Bama" sentiment. That said, while I disagree it is the "usual", if both L8U and a loss to UGA transpire, I think the team and fan base collapse violently like a dying star.
6) Regain glimpses of hope only to lose 2-3 more games as usual
quote:likely so, hope springs eternal among all sports fanatics. It is reality that can be a bitch.
7) Rinse, repeat
