BTW we have 1st team JuCo all american who is going to be our QB next year. (Cam was 2nd team)

Are you talking about Mackey or Antavious Simms (if he chooses us).

I really don't know, FWIW.

I think we'll be last in the West again, and I never pick us last.

Bama will have the talent and coaching to be fav. in every game they play, again.

Desire and cohesiveness will have to improve to win those games.

Mackey plus an O-line that has a year of experience together should mean me don't fall off too much on offense with Masoli/Summers gone.

Thought odd numbered years were LSUs friend?

We get Auburn, Florida, and Arkansas at home so that is good.

Our road games are State, West Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Ole Miss along with Oregon in Dallas.

We only have 6 home games.

We are going to fricking destroy WVU next season, fwiw. They lose everybody, and Bill Stewart is a mega asshat.

Yeah. As good as we are going to be, I am nervous we play UO and at State so early in the season. It just screams disaster.

To be the best, you gotta beat the best. Those two games could make our season, assuming we win both.

And I like our chances.

I just don't see it, man; wish I did.

Nutt needs to get a new DC (likely) and OC, (but that won't happen).

There are rumblings that Stanley is leaving, and frankly I think it has legs. I don't care. I'd rather watch Mackey play street ball.

Yeah, it looks like you guys should be impressive, but I think Nutt is very bill Stewart-ish.

On Offense -

Losing LT Barksdale and WR Tolliver as starters. That's it. 9 returning starters. I don't expect Jefferson or Lee to be any better than they have been this year, but if a change is made at OC or Mettenburger comes here, that offense can be much better.

On Defense -

Losing both DTs Nevis and Levingston. Losing the leader at MLB Sheppard. Losing the best CB in college football in Peterson. That's a tough, tough group of 4 to lose in one off season. 7 returning starters. Some dynamite RFr and Soph ready to step in to the lineup next year, and also some serious talent coming in on the DLine in the 2011 recruiting class.

Special Teams -

Losing P Helton, PK Jasper, and Peterson returning kicks and punts. This will be huge. Not so much the punting, but replacing Jasper will be tough. There are enough blue chip athletes to find explosive returners to replace Peterson, but no doubt special teams will take a hit.

Overall - More of the same as this year. Tough...hard fought....close games....won or lost in the 4th quarter.

2003...MNC

2007...MNC

2011...???

Would be pretty damn funny if that pattern right there happened.

WTF man the dude was JuCo 1st team All American the same year that Cam went to Auburn. I don't care who you are it is nothing to sneeze at. If you know anything about Nix, he has had a good if not great defense everywhere he has been. We had 2 years of great defense before this year and lost a lot last year and of our best players who were back, our best one goes out for the season early. I understand the frustration of the season but damn we are not in any situation to expect excellence every year. No one would coach at Ole Miss if we demanded firings for one bad year out of 3. (yes I know that 9 win years are not good to everyone but they are to us)

Sorry, this is not pointed necessarily at you, its been something I have wanted to say for a couple of weeks.

I agree with the coaching aspect, but I'm still skeptical of Mackey. Not saying he's bad but you know how QB's have been lately here... mediocre or worse. I do think he has the legs, not sure of his strength, accuracy and decision making... the biggest one.

Good Point. I will enjoy watching spring ball and see how his decision making is and what type of offense Nutt decides to run. I expect it to be very similar to this years, except for the fact Mackey is more of a true passer than Masoli.

BTW: If anyone cares these are his 2009 JuCo stats.

Throwing for over 3, 800 yards, rushing for over 580, and totaling 32 TD's.

I'm more excited for next season than I was for this season. Mallett is great and all, but we have so much unseen talent on offense. We'll be lighting up the scoreboard and forcing shootouts for a long time to come. Not exactly a recipe for championships, but anything can happen.

Our D should be better, but we'll see.

Switch Alabama and LSU, and you may have something.
