King's initial rating in recruiting certainly looks like a product of what was around him his junior year. From the games/highlights they showed in DFW he had a terrible SR year. Stats were bad as well and eventually fell in the rankings. Who's the non freshman backup? He looked decent last year and might be the better choice to start next year. Hopefully they can convince some of the o line to come back. Those guys are badass.
King is the back up. He beat out Calzada for the back up job. It'll be King or Eli Stowers next year. Almost certainly King.
King did look bad in some games his senior year, but he was playing hurt, and the team around him was pretty bad.
And I don't know why everyone is talking like we're going to lose Elko this year. He'd have to be offered a P5 job to leave. Even then, it might have to be the right P5 job. He knows what's being built, and he's in no hurry to leave.

Me. It's a really down year in the SEC.
Lol, not really. There are 4 teams in the top 9 of the CFP rankings

Me. It's a really down year in the SEC. He has two wins over teams with a winning record.
Its a conference only schedule and 4 of us are hogging all the wins genius.

Seriously, someone did the math on the all-SEC schedule. Basically, all the top teams have the wins, and the other teams share the losses. SEC isn't weak - LSU just sucks, and the media equates that to the SEC sucking
Also, might want to do research on King. Played with virtually an entirely new offense Sr year, and by the end of the year they were certainly not terrible. There are two questions for A&M next year, and QB isn't really one of them
Will Elko be here, and the OL ...
Never mind that King has been working with the same backups on OL that will be the starters next year. Feel pretty good about next year, and GREAT about the year after that. A&M is only getting significantly more talented with each recruiting class

2 out of 3 vs LSU. Have taken over that rivalry now. Very impressive work by Jimbo.

I can recall about 7 OT's where he outgunned a Heisman winner.
23/49 (46.9%) 287 yards 6 TDs; 20 rushes 42 yards 1 TD
25/38 (65.8%) 270 yards 3 TDs; 29 rushes 100 yards 3 TDs
The game Kellen Mond had has somehow morphed into one of the most talked about average statistical games I've ever seen. Of course a 7 OT game is going to produce a ton of points when you're starting every drive at the 25 yard line and both defenses are so gassed they can't stop anyone and the game is ultimately decided by a 2 point conversion. But I am new to this idea of completing under 50% of your passes and averaging fewer than 6 yards per attempt is in some elite territory for a QB.
Truth be told, Mond has never completed 50% of his passes against LSU, which almost seems impossible considering he's 2-1 as a starter against them. Nice accomplishment, seriously, but that doesn't make him a good QB any more than it made Danny Etling a good QB for shredding A&M two straight years.

Did he? He threw for more touchdowns but that was obviously inflated by the overtime periods.
Burrow played a better game overall.

Pay was high. But to put it in perspective. LSU raised Coach O’s salary this year to $7,000,000 and Bo Pelini to $2,300,000.
