You could argue tOSU bought one. But, Indiana? That was mostly talent eval, culture and coaching.

Of course they count but it is a fair question as to whether the SEC benefitted from their reputation (fair or not) as a stronger conference. Just remember, Georgia would have been automatically in the semifinals this year. Obviously they were not one of the four best teams but would have gotten a slot under the old system. We simply don't have enough regular season data points to truly assess relative strength. That's why a 12 team playoff was important.

This is rich coming from a former member of the Southwest Conference, whose organization imploded in large part because the level of shenanigans was at the institutional AND state level.

The overall average age of the roster didn't hurt either.
