What is the rationale behind this? If replay determines time SHOULD be on the clock, then how can you just erase time for the hell of it?

Is there some type of explanation I'm missing aside from Saban?

You guys got over and even still -- deserved the win over Bama. They played like shite and deserved to lose. Why manufacture a problem over it?

Btw, Bama was the better team by a good bit but Auburn got the W and Bama got the L. That's all that matters.

All fans can see when other teams catch crazy breaks but seem totally blind to it when their team does. Stop fretting over it.

Saban is by far the whining queen of the SEC.... ever single year the rules must be amended because of his crying.... The man really should take it back to the lake house and be done with it.

Do you really not understand? Replay was not designed be used like an extra timeout, and especially not to benefit a team by getting a call wrong on the field. If the officials had called it correctly on the field as a first down with knee down with one second left, it would have been impossible for Auburn to run a FG unit out on the field, line up for the kick, and snap it with a live clock starting at the ready for play. Instead the replay essentially gave AU a 4th timeout. It's a different story if AU had a timeout or if the runner went out of bounds. I don't have sour grapes. AU took advantage of the rule as it existed in 2019, but sometimes it takes an unjust situation in a high profile game to expose flaws in the rules.

Auburn simply is a "less than" program. It simply is. They will never be an Alabama, LSU Florida, or hell ... Ohio St. I don't think of them as inferior, just that they play by a different mindset. They make the most out of getting over better than any team or program (except maybe New England Patriots). I think that's something to be sort of proud of in a black hat sort of way

If you think about it, Gus is the perfect coach for Auburn. He fits them to a tee. He's goofy looking, makes some boneheaded calls, comes through in the luckiest ways and bends the frick out of the rules. He is definitely not a Nick Saban or Bear Bryant -- hell not even an Ed O. When I think of Auburn, I think of Gus ... when I think of Gus I think of Auburn. Not all bad really. You guys should completely embrace him.

Because Auburn essentially scored a FG at halftime. The refs stopped the clock to review the spot when in the grand scheme of things, it was irrelevant and time should have expired. THEN, they let Auburn run the FG unit out on the field, get set, and ready to snap the ball before whistling the ball ready for play and starting the clock, when in reality, there wasn't sufficient time on the clock to do that without intervention.

In an nutshell, what Auburn did was technically within the letter of the rules. It also defies any common sense and the intention of said rules. So in an absence of common sense officiating where judgement should have been used, the rules must be rewritten so asshats like that crew cannot potentially affect the outcome of the game.

Auburn leads the SEC and possibly the NCAA in “winning games they shouldn’t.” I agree, it’s pretty impressive.

I'm with you but I think you should look at that game and just say ... well that's just an Auburn thing, chuckle and let it go at that.

Auburn's mindset is to pay a high price for mediocrity.

Auburn fans on this board have no relevance other than through Alabama.

I haven't seen many (if any) Alabama fans bringing up Auburn at all, except maybe as a response here and there, but whining about Alabama is literally all they seem to have.

I've always heard that from Gumps, but it's really an eye opener on here.

No, Bama had better WRs. AUs D was much better.

I think most Alabama fans do. It pisses us off, but it's par for the course in Jordan Hare, just like Mississippi State's headphone incident a few years ago. Weird shite happens in that stadium that always seems to benefit Auburn. Nobody in college football has a bigger home field advantage than Auburn and it's not always within the rules.

But I think higher powers looked at that situation and realized that one error in officials judgment could have very well cost the SEC millions of dollars. If Auburn doesn't get that 3 and Alabama wins the game, does Alabama make the playoffs? Maybe. No way they win it all, but they could have replaced Oklahoma and gotten the conference a share of the playoff money. Errors like that attract more attention than just the fans that are pissed about it.

That's what it comes down to. Auburn got a free three points on a technicality that ultimately decided the game. As a result, the SEC lost out on millions of dollars because the playoff committee likely puts Alabama in over Oklahoma.

But that wasnt what the replay determined. They determined where the ball should be down not what was left on the clock So because the clocked stopped to determine where the ball should be in prevented the clock from running out. In essence au got a free time out.

SO why does the NFL have a similar rule except its an 8 second clock run off? You realize this rule may help you in the future and the change in the rule may hurt Alabama in the future?
