I sincerely appreciate your intent, but you need to understand that even well-intentioned support in line with your belief system can still be offensive to someone else when they understand your going in position as “you are not living your life properly, so I’m going to help you live properly.”

Better to simply live by your beliefs and if you feel the need to pray for me, don’t tell me. That’s why this discussion on proselytizing has gone so long, because some people feel required by their faith to bring their belief to those who have not asked.

Also it’s fantastically amusing for an orthodox atheist to borrow a morality from theism to to point to a perceived immorality of God. The materialist would argue man is but blood and soil, a cosmic accident. He doesn’t even have a category to assign a value to human kind.

I'm sorry that I bothered some of you so bad that I called out the hypocrisy of Christianity. I never questioned god or even said they werent real but love how I am an atheist since I brought up the fact Christianity was forced upon people.Your argument as other are shifting blame to others as if it wasn't bad because others did it. Keep reading what you want though.

It’s mankind who, either in ignorance, pride, or a rebellious spirit tries to twist, omit, or change those words to justify rejection of them.

Aside from the general silliness of most biblical stories, I criticize Christianity on three points in particular.

1. The physical evidence we have for the history of the natural world is inconsistent with prominent biblical stories.

A) The belief that a global flood occurred some 5,000 years ago and all the animals in the world flocked to a wooden ship and were tended to by a family before dispersing from a single location when the waters receded is utterly ridiculous and conflicts with multiple branches of science.

B) One of the most important tenets of Christianity is that Man is responsible for all the death and suffering that we experience. Christians believe Adam and Eve had perfect lives in the Garden of Eden before sinning and unleashing all our problems. In reality, the evidence indicates that death was widespread for hundreds of millions of years before our first ancestors arrived.

We did not bring death into the world. It was waiting for us.

2. People generally inherit religious conviction from their family and culture. I have witnessed this in person in many countries, including within the United States in places like Utah with its large Mormon population. Religion is just as cultural as the foods we eat, the sports we follow, the clothes we wear, the languages we speak, etc. I think that if there were a deity behind the scenes trying to funnel people into a certain belief system that culture would not be the driving force behind religious adherence that it so clearly is.

3. There is so much fraud and deception in this world. There are countless claims and witnesses to Bigfoot, Nessie, E.T., ghosts, conspiracy theories, and miracles of all types. Everything humanity has ever conceived, there is someone who will tell you it’s true. And there are people who will even kill others and die themselves for reasons associated with these beliefs.

And this is in 2023.

Rewind a few millennia and imagine the insanity of people with barely a tiny fraction of the knowledge we have.

I don’t trust people today on things that defy reason, much less on things that supposedly happened 2,000+ years ago.

But…those 2,000-year-old miracles were DOCUMENTED many years after the fact, so that’s as good as any scientific facts.

Also, the Old Testament facts like the flood and the burning bush and the tablets HAPPENED. We know this because men told us they did.

This is all clearly irrefutable and you are damned if you don’t take it on faith as fact. Also, if you choose not to accept these clear truths, some of your neighbors will secretly judge you for it while believing they are required to try to save you from your disbelief.
