This!!!! The moment Nick retired it was a mass exodus of talent that left. Caleb Downs leaving killed us. Ultimately we had 30 plus players leave and the talent that did stay were freshmen with zero experience. Its about to get ugly for Ole Miss.

Just equal the buy out. Coaches pay the school what the school would pay them if contracts are terminated.

It’s the change in location, routine, pressure, and instability that can’t bring back demons.

Ok, and a good coach that has suitors and leverage will just go to the competitor who doesn't have that stipulation. The fact is, the good coaches have all the leverage.
100% true. Unless you have collective bargaining between a coach's association and college ADs the latter will always operate from a position of weakness.

Liquidated damages for breach could limit future behavior. If the damages are so punitive they limit your ability to accept future employment it could be viewed the same as a non-compete. You are effectively eliminated from working for another employer due to the excessive penalty for leaving your current employer. That may be seen as unreasonable.
Plus, I don't believe a coach would ever agree to a contract that has excessive liquidated damages. There are so few really great coaches. They hold the hammer.

Technically, doesn't EVERY contract limit future behavior? That's why they exist. To identify what behavior is acceptable and what isn't under the terms of the contract.
