Was it handled properly by the ump? No. But…one big point that Schnall made in the press conference was regarding Assistants being treated like 2nd class citizens by the home plate ump. These guys aren’t supposed to say shite to the ump.
Schnall’s problem started in the 1st base coaches box when his assistant started arguing balls/strikes. Assistants do not argue with umpires, thats the rule.
As an assistant, if he does start arguing then the HC stands the chance of getting tossed along with the assistant.
Schnall definitely discarded this rule when he said the “missed 3 calls” comment. He stood up for his assistant and that put the ump in a very bad spot.
Ever see Bobby Wernes at Arkansas start an argument with an ump? What about Josh Jordan at LSU? You think DVH or JJ would allow those guys to start an argument on the field, during play? If that happened even their own fans would be shocked.

if they were arguing balls/strikes that early in the game then I definitely think he did it on purpose
the ump was consistent both ways in that game
Jay had a bigger argument on the hit batter in game 1 but he actually knew the rules and kept composed

Coastal embarrassed themselves. By far the worst team to ever make it to Omaha. Isn’t catching a pop up kind of a basic skill? They should probably get the dingo out field pop ups.

UALR was a tougher matchup than coastal.

Didn't Lsu lose to Omaha, Little Rock, Stony Brook, South Carolina and get run-ruled at home by Northwest State? Now they get a pushover Coastal. This has been a real down year in college baseball.
And Tennessee still had to watch the CWS from home.

I think the point is Jay wouldn’t have done anything to get tossed. Honestly this reeks of a fighter continuing to foul or spit his mouthpiece out so the ref will stop the fight or in this case give him an excuse to say “yeah well we got beat but I wasn’t there.” As if it would’ve made one blue frick’s worth of difference
