Yes and no. You are right that not winning it won’t hurt as bad as long as you still make the playoffs. I think winning an SEC championship will keep its relevance though with a first round bye.

I get that.. and you do have some valid points, but the first time this happens..

Five teams tied at 10-2
Two of them play for the SEC
Winner gets a bye
Loser is probably left out of playoffs

I’d probably rather be one of the 10-2 teams that didn’t play for the SEC title and made the playoffs..

Now if it comes out that the 10-3 team gets in before the 10-2 team, I’ll change that opinion.. but I don’t trust them to make that correct decision..

The game is starting to have much more parity. UGA losing in 2023 would have meant having to play a tough Ole Miss team

like 52-17 tough?

You lost me right there at the end with the inclusion of a&m

I think of aTm as a less fortunate version of Auburn. Sure they don’t have the history of a top 10 program, but in an elite recruiting territory with enough commitment to competing against the best, they are going to eventually have all the stars align. Their desire to get back up and keep trying no matter what is pretty impressive.

Tulane has many SEC football titles as A&M, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Missouri, South Carolina, Kentucky, Mississippi State have combined.
