i rather like your formul Jb bama, but i think that system should use the second tier bowls for the first rounds and still rotate the championship that the current BCS system uses?

I really think it would be a poor decision to hamstring this process by the bowls.

A. You tie it to corporate money
B. You tie the early rounds to certain venues

Why would you want to hamstring an area like Baton Rouge from having 3 extra home games, in order to perserve the tradition of the Independence Bowl in Shreveport?

You lose the pagentry that is a hallmark of College football. It's a key element that is a strong point of the regular season yet completely lacking in the post season.

"Hey remember the Hat back in 2014... in the Semi-Finals against USC. I have never heard a stadium get that crazy."

Instead of hey remember that weekend in shreveport when LSU played USC in front of 55,000 fans....

The other very positive side affect of home games is it adding relevance to the regular season.

If LSU(10-0) goes to Arkansas (10-0) they both know that they will make the playoffs, but neither one is willing to lose this game because A. It's a rivalry and
B. They want home field advantage for the playoffs.

It eliminates the idea of having any meaningless games if your ranked in the top 16.

i don't think that the Indy Bowl falls under second tier bowl games and the field would be a bit more even than playing at home. those second tier bowl sponsors would still reap the joy and finacial rewards by not losing their sponsorship at the same time...

point keep the playing fields as even as possible by using the bowls...been a dream of mine for years

Obviously if they would have used the SEC BCS tiebreaker it would have made more sense. The SEC tie breaker would have put UT in because of the H2H.
It says that in the case of a three way tie in the BCS the top team goes to the CG unless the #2 team is within 5 spots and won the H2H. So basically the BCS eliminates the third team from the discussion and in most cases the winner of the H2H would go. I still don't understand how logic says that a non conference champion should ever be a NC. NCAA football is different from other sports because you typically have larger conferences for division, but very few games played throughout the year.

There should be a guarantee for mid majors bids every year. This would eventually cause those conferences to become more competitive. I still say that if you don't win your conference you have no reason to ever complain about being left out of a playoff.

Tell that to the New York Giants, the Saint Louis Cardinals, and many many many many more teams.

There shouldn't be a discussion about BCS tiebreakers. Texas Tech shouldn't get left out because they got blown away by Oklahoma. Margin of victory shouldn't matter, style points shouldn't matter, quality loss shouldn't matter.

It should be about W's or L's just like in every other sport. You don't hear about an NFL team missing out because they lost by 40, and only beat the other team by 3.

16 teams means we don't have to worry about style points. We don't have to worry about what the other coaches in America think about OUR program. We don't have to worry about how Jeff Sagrain ranks our schedule. Why should we go off of end of the year rankings when determining schedule strength?

If I(UGA) beat 4-0 2008 UF team that loses to LSU, South Carolina, Florida State, because Tebow, Harvin and Demps all tear their ACLs. Why does that diminish my win over then #1 Florida? It shouldn't. Why should preseason rankings be used in 2004 to eliminate Auburn from the championship? It shouldn't.

First! You create 8 BCS Conferences where each conference plays a conference championship game. This is your 16 team play off. "Sweet Sixteen".
This gives you 8 Conference Champions.

Second! First round of play off: 8 teams = 4 games and 4 simi-finalist.

Third! Second round of play off: 4 teams = 2 games and two winners.

Forth! "The BCS College Super Bowl Championship!"

Your plan sucks - it would destroy the intense exciting regular season make or break games college football is famous for.

An 8 game playoff would create 7 games with intense exciting action instead of 4800 worthless bowls and 1 national championship game.

I would much prefer a controversial 7/8 seed over the 9/10 seeds than the same with the 1 and 2 teams that we currently have. Due to money the automatic bid for a conference would have to happen. Regardless of the outcome it will be driven by money instead of what is best for the sport.

Right now I can't say why Florida or OU should be there over teams like Texas and USC. Let's have a vote to see who we think is best. Tom Brady would have another ring if the NFL did that.
