I don't think that call is coming. There is a certain culture in the SEC molded by 80 years...fraternity. Boren hosed up when he started making demands, the informal meeting ended badly (from what I understand) and now the door is closed. The first time that 'We Texas!' pops up, that's the end of it.

Texas failed to understand the following:
The product you are trying to sell to an audience is high quality competition among high quality brands.
LHN does not brand the conference, nor the competition, only Texas. For most of the audience that is not enough, not even close.
The BTN, and soon the SEC network, brands the conference as the place to play (for recruits) and the place to watch (audience-sponsers) the best competition.
I know Big 10 football quality is down as a whole, but the audience is there to watch. The stadiums are packed.....the money is flowing. The rates for the BTN is higher than ever. the BTN is blasting...B1G..B1G...B1G..everywhere in Big 10 country. Womens volleyball, which was played every Wed & Sunday night on the BTN has very good ratings this year..BTN very happy. The matches for Women Vollyball were packed everywhere....the fans had signs in the stands saying things about BTN.
Texas needs to turn the LHN/ESPN and another "sugar daddy/investor" into the Big 12 network. I don't know how it can happen but it needs to happen, and quickly.
The Big 12 is losing out in the branding war with the Pac12,Big 10, and SEC. It's kind of like RC Cola going up against Coke and Pepsi. It taste the same but it does not have the marketing behind the product.

Mizzou was the last of the 4 schools to leave the Big 12. Mizzou caused the downfall of the Big 12.

you sips should be more concerned with whats 100 North on I-35 and is kicking your asses.
Baylor runs the Big12 now.

Ya mother frickers, I got shite to do today, but I'm putting it on the backburner now. Keep going in dry on Texas and their shitshow. I'm enjoying this immensely.

Having OM/UT on LHN pretty much says it all.

The one thing I will give Texas credit for is they tried to advance their brand alone without benefitting anyone else. They took their recent success in the big 3 and moved on it. Their big mistake in my opinion, was the thought their clout was big enough to drive the whole train. The Longhorns knew they had oSu, KU, k State, Baylor, and Tech in their pocket and thought that leverage would scare the rest to follow. What they failed to realize was individual brands are not the name of college sports and you need strong ties to big names to survive.
LSU has to have Alabama and Alabama has to have Auburn etc. To survive. While I give DeLoss credit for trying he clearly misread the landscape. The advent of BTN proved this point even more.
The invites of TCU and West Virginia were over reactions and an attempt to save face. It almost was like UNT attempting their upgrades to get invited into the SWC. They were doomed from the start, if you ask WVU or TCU now was the move worth it, I would say probably not.

That's kind of what I meant by post at top of page...fraternity. No one is bigger than the whole and it goes back decades. After the Big 8/SWC era this idea got lost I think. You can't be UT unless there is legitimate competition to prove themselves.

You are welcome. I figured you would appreciate the B1G Network addition to your angle.

Almost forgot about that. There is another no vote. The LHN is like a friend magnet!!!

It's not legitimate competition though I am talking about. I'm talking about a strong dancing partner that you can call on when needed. Auburn has a strong financial backing as does Alabama as does LSU. Until recently oSu was an also ran in terms of money spent. In essence you have to spend to make and the Big 12/11/8 had been reluctant to do so.
OU knows the rest of conference won't spend like they do, but they need Texas. They freely admit it.

LHN does not brand the conference, nor the competition, only Texas. For most of the audience that is not enough, not even close.
It’s a tier-3 rights station that shows a lot of basketball, baseball and women’s sports. That’s a single school specific partnership with ESPN is what makes it interesting, but it’s not anything more than that.

Nobody not affiliated with a school playing watches the BTN. A Michigan fan doesn’t tune into the BTN to watch an Iowa basketball game because the expectation is that it’s Iowa against some scrub team. At this point, we as fans know that all games of importantance are on ABC/ESPN/FOX and never on a tier-3 network like the LHN/BTN/SEC network.

Again, nobody watches the BTN unless your school is on. Same thing will be true for any conference centric TV network (and that includes the LHN).

Without the LHN, our desire to stay in the Big 12 becomes almost zero. The next round of conference expansion could see the death of the LHN and at that point, you could see Tech/Texas/OU/Ok State going to the Pac-12.

As a fan of a B1G school (Michigan), nope, that ain't true.

Texas and Tech aren't going anywhere without Baylor. OU and OSU are not splitting up. So Tech gets left out, but that won't happen because the West Texas politicos will not let it happen.
ETA: people act like Baylor is an also ran. But the Baptist boys are a cash cow for Texas. They've got money and have started flaunting it again. While they've not been successful in football always they have a history.
I watch the BTN a lot and I'm not a B1G fan

Baylor is a private school, leaving it behind would be of no issue. Baylor is not tied to the hip in the way Tech/Texas and OU/Ok State would be.

Yep if they ever tried to add Texas to the SEC. I think 1/2 of the conference would leave.

Baylor has more clout than Tech and they're not going to be left behind. You're underestimating the Baylor money. Texas Tech if any would be the one to leave behind.
If Texas was smart and wanted to preserve the Big XII they push for New Mexico to join.

Plus how does Tech line up academically with rest of PAC 12 or osu? People forget that also has to match.
USC and Stanford are private schools so the PAC 12 isn't afraid of private schools.
