In 2025, SEC travel-distance complaints are mostly moot. Flying is flying, whether it’s 200 miles or 2,000.

The only folks who truly care about mileage is/are the RV crowd who want every game within a tank of gas.

For everyone else, you board a plane and land two hours later … no matter where the opponent is.

I hate flying, not a fear thing, just genuinely hate everything about the process. Unless I am under a big time crunch, I am driving every time.

quote: who wants to fly into Chicago or Indy for an SEC game? I’ve been to many Aggie away games over the years. Bar none—and it’s not even close—the ND/Chicago trip in 2000 was the worst one. And that’s including the unfortunate interactions typically held with the obnoxious fanbase in Boulder, CO. Of course, others disagree; I’m just speaking to my experience

I went this year and it was a blast, of course the result didn't hurt.

Flew into Chicago and stayed downtown. Took an Aggie only charter bus to the game and hung out around campus all day (that campus is fantastic). Watched the Ags beat the hell outta ND. Came back to the hotel that night. Went to a Cubs game and got some Chicago style pizza and then flew home late Sunday.

That said it is not an SEC like environment at all, it's very Midwestern and very private school feel. Fun for a trip but a different world. Missouri has some Midwest feel to it but at least it's a public school and it has some Southern roots. ND is the antithesis of that no matter what the mileage says.

South Bend, Indiana is closer for more SEC schools than Texas is. The only ones closer to Texas are: - Oklahoma - Arkansas - LSU - MSU (almost even)

So clearly A&M isn’t viewed as SEC. Good to know.
