He played like 8 total games for us before literally going crazy and being released from the program. People are trying to say that's similar to Hernandez? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills

Did he play at Texas A&M? Yes. Was he crazy? Yes. Did Hernandez play at Florida? Yes. Was he crazy? Yes. Will they both be dogged on the board? Frick yes.

No, no...
We are murderers at Texas A&M. We must accept it.

Johnson’s relatives told a judge that he received a schizophrenia diagnosis prior to the murder. After a judge originally deemed him not competent to stand trial and committed him to a psychiatric hospital in 2016, court records show a “fit for trial” change last June. Johnson is expected to use an insanity defense, the AP writes.
Chopping up a random guy in public definitely sounds like a mental issue. Honestly, Johnson needs time and treatment in a mental asylum rather than prison. Nothing about that crime screams 'sane.'
Sadly, we here in Amurrica don't really give a shite if you're legitimately mentally ill or not.

Im sorry i don't see the humor in a situation where a kid literally went crazy and was failed by the system who ended up hacking some poor innocent soul to death leading to the suicide of his wife

I like poking fun at A&M, but this is a sad situation. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Prayers

Had Johnson attended LSU, you and your ilk would be in the accompanying thread trashing their whole athletic dept.
Since the shoe is on the other foot, Aggy is taking their ball and going home. Makes sense.

So you think he should be out in a few years if he shows he can be mentally stable?? Catch me on the poli board. That’s ridiculous. The dude is dangerous to society and needs to be locked up. Mental disorder or not their are plenty of crazies that shouldn’t get an easy way out.
Posted on 4/30/19 at 11:49 am to KennesawTiger
I absolutely, 100%, wouldn't

Agreed. A&M is a joke school/ program but this situation is too effed up for a football board. Plenty of other aggy alums to ridicule.

A truly terrible situation. However, the kid did play at A&M, so swing away ...

Thomas Johnson went to trial on Monday for attacking 53-year-old Daniel Stevens, who was on a morning run in October 2015 when he passed under a bridge on a Dallas jogging path. Johnson hacked Stevens to death with a machete, prosecutors said.
Police said the attack was random.
Johnson, 25, appeared in court after years of litigation over whether he is mentally competent to be tried for the seemingly random killing.
Johnson’s relatives said he was diagnosed with schizophrenia before the attack. Johnson played football for Texas A&M in 2012 until he disappeared mid-season and turned up days later at his family’s home. In 2016, a judge ruled him not competent to stand trial and had him committed to a psychiatric hospital.
That is one messed up story.
Wow.

You obviously are too old or too young to understand the internet then. This is a place people make memes of 9/11.

It's one of the few issues I have with Texas Criminal Law. It pretty much ignores insanity as a criminal defense because you must prove that you did not know what you were doing was "wrong" because of a severe mental defect. It's hard to prove.
