I still stand by the Baylor political pressure being just a bunch of hot air. THe only reason they are in the Big 12 is because of Ann Richards. They are a private school, not state funded. Therefore the politicians would(should) be more inclined to protect the interest of the state funded school, ATM.
If ATM would actually get off its arse and become more vocal politically, it would be relatively easy to make the jump to the SEC.
I think Baylor would actually do well in the Big East.

Well, shite, if media markets are all that matter then let's add Texas, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Southern Cal. That gives us 5 of the 10 largest media markets in America plus a huge national following. And 3 out of the 4 time zones in the lower 48.
Then we can withdraw from the BCS, pay our players whatever we damn well please and crown the conference champion the world champions.

Because Mizzou is just burning up the media share market. Yeah, I don't think so. The addition of A&M is a huge market. Putting Mizzou in would be like forcing a round peg in square hole.

Even still. Memphis is not a great basketball program. Very good but not great. You can't go from going 0-12 in CUSA to even thinking about being able to not get curb stomped in the SEC for at least a decade and even then it's probably not possible. Not to mention, their fan base is non existent. It's a commuter school. The student body population is a lot different than other SEC schools.

That's fine but it's a realistic option unlike everything in this thread. GA Tech would be awesome but they aren't leaving the ACC. Not going to happen. They already play Georgia every year. North Carolina schools won't break stride. Fla State makes sense but they're on easy street in football for at least 5 years...VA Tech spins it's wheels in mediocrity. It's awesome to think about what you want...but being viable options is another.

I don't disagree with most of that. I just don't want expansion, and if it's inevitable then I think A&M and VT are the best choice. But VT isn't gonna happen. I'm not against Memphis in theory, but it won't happen. It would be cool to play them every year in basketball and it would be an easy win in football.

WTF? That kind of rational thinking isn't allowed here!

Didn't read all 13 pages but I would assume if they come Bama and Auburn to east would make most sense. I likethe move and figured LSU fans would as well it removes your two biggest competitors from the west. Besides it makes good geographcal sense. I suppose then you would only play one team from the other division each yr and it would rotate maybe.I like Missou and think they would be a great addition. I like the LSU/ATM rivalry as well.

You're right. St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield are nothing.
I don't see Mizzou as a square peg in a round hole. They fit in as well as Arkansas and South Carolina. Heaven help me but I still think of them as Southwest Conference and ACC. Of course I'm probably a lot older than you.

Mizzou should be in a conference with Kansas and Kansas State.
Mizzou should never, ever be in a conference with LSU and Alabama.
Never. Ever.
But yes, LSU and A&M are natural rivals. We hate them, they hate us. Smiley Anders has been printing Aggie jokes in The Advocate since long before I was born. LINK People in East Texas love telling Cajun jokes.

Why not? Because they are 1-0-0 against LSU and 2-1-0 against Alabama?

Mizzou doesn't have near the fanbase you're acting like it does. Hell, I didn't know they had a program until about three years ago.

Memphis has been begging for an SEC invite since about 2008. Slive could fart in their direction and theyd gladly take a whiff. They may be a 6th choice but one it wouldn't take much convincing.

Why not?
Because we already have 2 teams with a Tiger mascot.
Quota has been reached.
When Auburn gets the death penalty, maybe then Mizzou will get a shot.

Rewind 30 years.
I'd rather have Arkansas State than Memphis.

Memphis works geographically, is a legit basketball school, and their football team won't step on many toes. I think they would be a good program for the SEC. Tell me a viable team for the East that would accept. VA Tech, Miami, Fla State ain't coming...Memphis is a natural cross conference Ole Miss rival and they would be a welcome addition
If we are going to expand we are going to take in schools that are outside of our current markets.
It's more likely that we drop Vanderbilt and pick up another school than expand.
Other than the moves that have already been decided, I don't see any shake-ups in the BCS Conferences coming anytime soon.

How about TX A&M, Texas Tech, Georgia Tech and Clemson.
west-AM, TT, Auburn, Ark, LSU OM, Miss ST, Alabama
East-Georgia Tech, GA, KEN, VAN, FL, SC, CLEM, TENN
maybe someone else for GT since they on probation

For personal reasons I would rather see Texas Tech in the MWC. Haha. Besides they suck at literally every thing they do. Athletics and academics.
They do have hot, slutty girl though
