As for LSU breaking the series with A&M in the 80's this is how it went down:
LSU signed a 10 year contract with us, home and away.
We won 5 years in a row.
Joe Dean, the LSU AD at the time decided he didn't want to play us any more and ended the series.
bullshite.
LSU signed a 10 year contract. All 10 games were played. The teams entered into a 4-year EXTENSION of the contract. LSU pulled out of the extension because it was financially difficult to keep playing a road OOC game every other year with 8 SEC games, 4 on the road.

LSU owed us 200,000, Dean refused to pay, our AD Wally Groff threatened a lawsuit and Dean told him he would have the venue in Louisiana and Wally settled for 100K.
Really? Then why do you frickers keep claiming we owe you money?

Yall were 2-9 for 5 years in a row?
1991: 5-6
1992: 2-9
1993: 5-6
1994: 4-7
1995: 7-4-1
Congrats on successfully running that gauntlet with some of the best teams in your history.

OK but you have to promise to not get upset like last time and take your football and go home.
BTW you still owe us money for breaking the last contract.
so true
how bout this? We will let the arse raping of A&M on Oct 20th serve as the "paying back" of this money you speak of

A&M jumped out to a 10-0 lead. Even after Hodges went down, they were down 7 driving to potentially tie the game in the 2nd half
A&M was never within 7 in the second half. You trailed 28-17 at the half, LSU scored first in the 2nd half to make it 35-17 in the third quarter. You cut it to 35-24 and we finished it off with 2 field goals to make the final 41-24.
In order to keep it that close, you needed...
-a bullshite penalty nullifying Honey Badger's TD fumble return
-a bullshite penalty AND a missed field goal to keep LSU from making it 38-17 or 42-17 in the third quarter
You were in that game until about the middle of the second quarter. By halftime, you were out of it, and you never got back in it.

Because we are still bitter that you choose to break the contract, threatened not to honor the buy-out as a means of settling for a lesser amount, and quit playing us when it became apparent that we were going to own the series for awhile.
Technically, it is false. You do not owe us money. But it was still a chickenshit thing to do.

they were saved by incompetence against UT and luck against us (Florida) that season.
I beg to differ on the "luck" against Florida. If anything Florida was damned lucky they didn't get blown out. Florida's first 21 points of that game were scored on a 17-yard drive after a turnover, an 18-yard drive after a turnover, and a kickoff return for a TD. LSU was moving the ball up and down the field, scoring 26 points through early in the fourth quarter, but only held a 26-21 lead because of the above. Finally, after doing nothing all night, the Florida offense earned its first and only score of the game to take a 29-26 lead. LSU promptly drove back downfield for the winning TD in the final seconds. As for the fake FG being "lucky", the luck was again with Florida that it even hit the ground, or we would have had the TD on that play.

Seriously? You think A&M would have owned the series from 1996 forward? A&M is lucky as hell we didn't keep playing you because we would have thoroughly kicked your asses for almost the whole time since then.

Bingo. If anyone was 'lucky' it was Florida to even be in that game at the end.
Screw Tennessee. Everyone goes on about the penalty. And,LSU did look like the Keystone Cops at the end. But LSU had driven the ball down UT's throat mainly beind Jarret Lee's passing including a 4th down conversion. Had Tennessee won that would have been a fluke. They hadn't stopped crap at the end. UT fans act like they had some gutty goal line stand. Nonsense.

No, and that's not what I said. I said that it appeared at the time like we would. The fact that we had won 5 straight and was regular fixture in the top 5-10 made it appear as though we would. Since 1999, we've sucked.
