You think teams have never seen the hurry up before? Dooley ran hurry up at UT. Kiffin ran it too (still does). Hell Kirby ran it during our game Saturday.
Hurry up is old news. So is spread. It's the combination of tempo (which doesn't always = hurry up) and other things that make it work. Defenses can't defend it all of the time because even the offense doesn't know what it's going to run each snap and various splits make it incredibly difficult to guard the entire field. Defense is forced to make a choice and will inevitably choose wrong several times a game. That is just great playcalling.

Sure is. Which explains the 52 points BAMA put on the vols defense. But the game is won and lost in the red zone. Who can execute those last 20 yards?

Quality depth on defense had something to do with that, too.
The Vols lost 45 players from last year’s roster, and only one of those players couldn’t return this year due to eligibility (Brandon Kennedy). Three went to the NFL (Bryce Thompson, Josh Palmer and Trey Smith). Another two retired for medical reasons, and 39 transferred elsewhere.
To make matters worse, six members of the original 2021 signing class were either dismissed, entered the transfer portal or let out of their letter of intent. That means that UT has 50 players who could have been on the roster this year but are not.

I agree and also don't forget our west opponent is LSU and they will have a first year coach. I think we should beat UF if they keep going the way they are but I will hold my breath until we actually win. Tennessee should get 8-9 wins next season minimum in my opinion if Hooker returns.

They would have had a faster turnaround if they didn't fire the guy who was going to hire Leach.

Had everything to do with it. IDK even know why our defense was mentioned. Ironically, that bad D is far better than last year's under the Gump Genius.
