Update-------

A buddy of mine played at the same golf course as Herbstreit once frequented, once. He is hearing from inside the Herbstreit camp that Gruden is ABSOLUTELY in play and will be the next coach at Tennessee, as long as he's hired and signs a contract with Tennessee

Very interesting stuff.

The greatest ending to this Shakespeareian event would be for Gruden to take the job.

And hire Schiano as his DC.

Well the one thing we do know is Gruden was never formally offered by the House of Haslam and Currie after he wouldn't entertain an offer period without having complete control of the football program. They said no. And he declined to even listen to their pitch.

Obviously, he was going to say no and politely turn down the job. But the fact the Haslams and Currie wouldn't agree to give him complete control when Dish Network's Charlie Ergen was going to help fork up that $10M annual contract offer is complete horse crap.

In hindsight, we could have put $10M on the table for Gruden first, publicly. Got turned down publicly. Shut the fans up. Had coaches salivating over a big money boost. The fans wouldn't have rioted. Gotten a good damn coach. None of this is a story.

BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Twice... This would be the third time. He turned UTk down back before they hired Jones.

Gruden next coach at Tennessee

Good God man when is UT going to realize that at this point no reputable highly sought-after coach is gonna touch the UT dumpster fire?

As for Gruden, he wasnt ever coming to UT from the jump, could you imagine the shite show the next coach is inheriting? Second only to Ole Piss in terms of career suicide, UT needs to hire a decent OC/DC from a power 5 conference and pay them 4/5 million a year to basically fall on the sword so then they can try again to get a decent HC.

WOW JUST WOW!!!
