What's our 2-deep on the defensive line for 2012 look like?

If I had to guess.

1. Couch, Jackson

2. Hughes, Walls

No doubt better than last year.

Thing is I'm worried about end, too. We should finally have some quality players, I'm just not sure we'll have enough. Linebacker isn't as big of a concern, but I'm a little worried. I'm feeling pretty good about our secondary and just about everywhere on offense, but the front 7 seems like a question mark as far as depth.

Yah whole line

is probably

Smith Jackson Couch Martin

Bohannon Hughes Walls Miller

Still think it's a better rotation all around.

DL should be better

DB should be better

LB is my only real concern

Our defensive front seven was going to be a problem regardless. Very similar to our O-Line last year. Young guys can only help so much. Couch really helps being a Juco.

I think it's easier to be an impact player on the DL than it is on the OL

I don't think Gabe Wright would've made the rotation. Jernigan would have but he was a long shot. Dawson is the one that still stings.

I agree. I'm talking about DT's for the future.

Very small chance GW is in the two deep if he had signed with UT.

I am not sure. But I believe stepping after Saban helped.

If you don't mind, what do you think the two deep will look like there (in 2012).

Couch has 3 to play 3. That's comforting. But yes, DT will be the focus of the next recruiting class. Actually our whole defense except for DE probably needs an upgrade in talent. But that's what coaching is for.

Hmm Just a complete guess

1. Lathers - Austin Johnson - Vereen

2. King - AJ Johnson - Mitchell Thorton

Based on the press conference, it appears Herr Dooley already has DY penciled in as the starting PR.

He seems to have speed, and if he learns how to properly field a punt and how to call a fair catch, he has a significant lead over anybody we have returning.

I'm one of those DY believers. I like where his head is at, and that doesn't get enough credit.

I remember reading recently that DY has been working on punt returns with his HS coaches and punters almost non stop this season.

Dooley said in his pc, that don't be surprised if the three deep at PR are all true freshman, he mentioned DY by name.

If I had to guess.

vol fans, i was disappointed that we were 1 for 3 today. I was expeceting at least to close with 2 of the 3.
After today, in order, what position(s) do we have the least depth or u think is our weakest position? DT, DE, LB? OUr strongest position?

I would say our weakest position is DT because other than Couch we really dont have a solid DT. Our strongest position IMO would be the secondary. We should be very solid with Jackson and company next year.

DT is still going to be stronger and deeper this year than last.
