This has been a rule my entire life. It is just called more now because they can review it.

There is difference between good contact and using contact to play defense. The problem is the officials can't figure what is a foul or isn't a foul anymore. They are attempting to get people to play defense by sliding their feet and not using their hands. It sucks now, but will be better for the game in the long run
