The football gods have seen fit to hook me up with a ticket to the Bama vs. UF game this week, and I'm driving down to Gainesville this Friday.
I've never been to a game inside another SEC venue before so I'm pretty excited. Anyone got any survival tips? The ticket is in the UF student section so do I need to worry about getting shanked/pelted with things? What are some of the cool places to hang out at before the game?

No, unless you intend on being an over-the-top, belligerent douche. There were plenty of TN fans in the student section two weeks ago, and they were fine. I can't speak for the ACRs and sidewalk fans that are out and about, but the actual students love a good game and getting loud, but aren't particularly violent.

Stay on the right side of the wall when drinking. Make sure you have your flask concealed well when entering the stadium. Be careful making drinks. I've never been to south Carolina or Kentucky but Jortsville is the worst on campus games I've been to and is only ahead of Little Rock as my least favorite SEC venue

My sister snuck several minis into the last home game in a relatively small purse. She put them at the bottom and then put a bunch of tampons on top. I was skeptical because they do look pretty closely, but she said, "men see these and want nothing to do with them."
The trooper doing searches took once glance and damn near threw it back to her. She drank in the stands for the rest of the game with no issue. I have to admit I was impressed. I guess she learned a thing or two at UNC after all.

how'd you get a UF student ticket? Do you have a Gator1 id card? cause you'll need one to get in....the ticket won't get you in alone.

He could upgrade it Friday morning, but I would get there no later that 7 a.m. for this game. I showed up at 8 a.m. for Tenn and barely got one of the upgrades.
